The weekend that flew by...

Okay, I'm hating "blogger" lately. It has been so difficult to blog lately as the formatting and stuff is all messed up. Perfect example...I wanted to write this above the picture above but it won't let me no matter what I try...so frustrating! Anyway this past Friday night I saw "The Hunger Games" with my neighbor and I liked it but it was not as good as the book (I know...I know...everyone says that.) It is just that in the book you hear so much of what Katniss thinks the whole time and that piece is missing from the movie. It also seemed that the Games were like "camping" instead of "hey you are miserable and close to death kinda stuff." But I loved Woody Harrelson in it...classic!

So the picture above is a replica of the "Menger Sponge" which is a famous Fractal. See, Saturday morning I was up bright and early to go with 9 girls to the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival at UNCC. We had a great time and it was so neat to see all the creative activities they had and seeing our middle school girls excited about math!

Sunday was on the relaxing side and Norah, of course, played hard with our neighbors...I believe they were super heroes this day!!! They have their capes on and they were "flying" around the yard. It was so cute! I just love them!
I was sad the weekend ended as it went by so fast...it was like a blur. I did finish reading "Matterhorn" and enjoyed it. It was good to read about the Vietnam war which I was unfamiliar with but I for some reason thought it had more of a plot and followed characters maybe outside of the war zone but it did not. It was about a particular time, people and situation...but there are scenes from the book that will stick in my thoughts always...so I am glad I read it.
Well the question I always ask is, "what to read next..." and I have so many choices! I have been hearing a lot about the book "Fifty Shades of Grey" lately and now they are talking about making it into a series for HBO or a movie? So it has me curious but we'll see....
Another random note...I have seen a few previews for the movie, "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" and for some reason I really want to see it. Since next week is my Spring Break from school, maybe I will get to head to the movies.
Speaking of Spring Break....this Friday we will be headed South so Jeff can run in the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston, SC. It should be a fun time!

This weekend...

This weekend we did a lot of cleaning and got the house back in gear to go back on the market. It officially for sale again and we are hoping for a quick sale. We are ready!! I also made homemade laundry detergent and dishwasher soap...loving it so far!

Norah played hard all weekend outside and then we headed to two birthday parties at My Gym on Sunday back-to-back! She was a trooper through it and had a blast!
The warm weather seems here to stay so I have been making sure Norah has clothes/shoes that fit (she grows like a weed!) and getting my closet back into Spring/Summer clothes too...I swear I barely wore any "real" winter clothes this year. Well I have an early meeting the next two mornings at school, Friday I will be seeing "Hunger Games" movies with my neighbor...so excited and then Saturday I think I am attending an all girls math event at UNCC with our students. Whew! Well I'm off to get a couple things done before bed time!

Three.1 Things Thursday...

1. Yesterday was Pi Day and also Albert Einstein's birthday. If I had thought far enough in advance I would have gotten this shirt to wear to school...for you non-math people...it is "i eight sum pi"...my students would have loved that one! :)2. Seriously saw this recipe via on-line and um....yummy! I may have to make it soon!! http://ladywiththeredrocker.com/2012/03/08/cinnaboncinnamon-roll-cake/

3. So I hope to finish "Matterhorn" this weekend...really good book...and I can't decide what will be next. I heard about two more trilogies, "The Bronze Horseman" and "The Ripple Series"...so added them to my Amazon.com "Wishlist"...I love having that thing to save books I hear about so I can remember them!
"The Rippler" is one I can borrow for free...and you know I love FREE!
3.1 I love the weather but poor Norah I think has allergies and her nose is like a faucet outside and she has a cough at night. I have started giving her Zyrtec at night before bed and it seems to help some. I also feel a little unprepared regarding warm-weather clothes so need to pull everything out and see what we got that will work for now...for me and Norah!

Three Things Thursday...

1. Norah...she is so sweet! So I figured out since I don't carry my pocketbook around that much...I have been taking less pictures because I don't have my camera on me. So I am going to try to remember to start carrying my camera again so I can always take a pic. I'm lacking in the Norah picture department these days. I took this pic with my iphone tonight and I thought I would share something funny she said today.
On car ride home from school...
Norah: I am going to draw a picture of a red Toyota truck like Daddy's but Daddy's is white
Me: Daddy doesn't have a Toyota...it is a Chevrolet
Norah: It is a Toyota because that is what the symbol is on the front of it....I saw it.
Me: Okay, well what kind of car does Mommy drive?
Norah: A Hoppe car because there is a "H" on the front
**I thought this was hilarious! ("H" is for Honda by the way....)
Norah is also obsessed with "The Big Bang Theory" show as she loves the opening song! It is cute!
2. Recipes. I made this one tonight http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/09/cooking_with_my_punk-ass_little_sister_penne_a_la_betsy/ but of course I made some tweaks, a little less butter and oil, no parsley, cut up the shrimp raw and added it to the sauce, and used angel hair pasta but seriously it was so good that I swear it is better than a restaurant!!! You need to make it now!

And this is a recipe I do want to try....http://www.ladybehindthecurtain.com/?p=25106

I mean seriously how yummy does that look! I bet they taste better than the real thing!
3. And something to make you laugh....
You so know that has happened.... :)

This past week...

These last few days have been family centered as Jeff's dad had to go into the hospital. There was a lot of unknowns and he has now moved to another hospital and there still could be another move in the future. So we have been praying for everything to work out and trying to help Jeff's mom anyway we can during this time. It has been a stressful situation for the last couple of years, especially for Jeff's mom, so say a prayer for everyone...

So last week at school was Crazy (yes, that is a capital "C") but this week has been great which has been so nice since I want to be able to help Jeff anyway I can...I also hope to get back on track with working out...today I was able to go for a walk and it was fabulous!

Other random things I have found on the Internet this week...

I am so going to make my own laundry detergent...check it out here http://www.designfinch.com/2011/07/17/homemade-laundry-detergent/
Also I found the cutest ideas for packing a kid's lunch that I will definitely be using this summer and for Norah in kindergarten next year! See it here... http://www.theidearoom.net/2010/08/kids-home-lunch-ideas.html
And I think I found a way to purchase movie tickets in advance for "The Hunger Games"...my neighbor and I are planning on going the Friday it opens. :)
Oh yeah...we originally thought our house would be back on the market this week but with Jeff's dad we decided that next week would probably be better...so keep your fingers crossed!
