The Latest...

It has been busy 'round here this past week....

School is back in full swing for Norah and me this week as well as work for Jeff. Norah has gone to art class, Kid Yoga, Hip Hop/Jazz class, Good News Club, and kid game night. We made a fairy garden in our back yard, had Norah's Valentine's party at school since the ice canceled the first one, had a visitor stay with us (Hey Allan...come back and stay another time!), dinners out, checking out a new car, burning of Christmas trees, Disney fundraiser lunch at school, work meetings, and the list goes on....there of course was a random movie and lots of TV series watching done in between....

It is official and I am now addicted to "House of Cards." I'm plowing through Season 2 right now with any free time as I think it is fabulous. I watched "Austenland" which I found quite funny but it has a certain kind of humor that may not be for everyone (MB...you would like it!) but I thought it was cute! Speaking of finding things funny...this is hilarious to me as I would so do this...

Friday came and after a whirlwind of a day...we headed to my mom and Denny's house. We arrived and then had to quickly leave to meet Meredyth (we have been friends since the Atlanta days...too many stories to tell!), her boyfriend Tony (somehow eluded my pic taking), and Catherine in Augusta at Sheehan's Irish Pub for dinner. The company, atmosphere, and food were great!

Today Jeff and Denny went to play golf while mom, Norah, and I headed to lunch with Meredyth and Tony. We went to Manuel's Bread Cafe which was major yum! Even dessert was had by all!

Before and After desserts...yum!
Then we had some down time before we headed to Aiken for The Pizza Joint (do you see the theme...I think I have eaten non-stop since the ice storms hit!)

Also to throw one more random thought into this post...I have been experimenting with apps and social media things for various reasons. One app that is pretty interesting is Waterlogue...

It turned this picture I took of some flowers I had picked up...into the watercolor pic beside it...pretty cool!

Whew! Off to sneak in an episode of my boy Frank in "House of Cards." Tomorrow it is back to Pawleys Island and time to prep for a new week!

Randoms...

Norah and I are going back to Buddy Camp this summer. I asked Norah if she was ready to go to camp by herself this year and she told me she was not ready this year but wanted to go back to buddy camp. So we are booked and ready for June! We both are excited about it.

We got the Charlotte Observer today...yes, they actually sell the paper in Litchfield so we pick it up on the weekends sometimes. And I saw this...

So Norah and I went on Pinterest and looked up Fairy Gardens and decided we are going to make our very own in the back yard...this should be fun! We started on it today but have more work to do on it tomorrow...picture to come...

I also found this recipe which I am totally trying out...Korean Flank Steak Tacos with Asian Pear Slaw

Look at these sweet girls...it is so great they all live in the same neighborhood! (Please ignore the pumpkin (aka curling stone) that made the picture...)

My Mom and Denny finally got their power back on (YEAH!!) and the Earthquake that happened in SC last night was pretty close to them...I mean this stuff is crazy!

I took some random online quiz today by Southern Living about who is your Southern Starlet Twin...guess who I got...hmmmmm....I'm thinking it is fairly accurate...
You're Scarlett in Gone With the Wind!

You’re headstrong, driven, and always the optimist. To quote the vivacious, often maddening but always endearing Vivien Leigh icon, "I'll think of some way to get him back. After all, tomorrow is another day."

Happy Valentine's Day!

Okay...I feel like this post is going to go a lot like the last one. It has been a blur again with three days off from school for the latest crazy weather/ice storm and now a long weekend...all the days seem to run together and therefore, I become slack on the picture taking front. But...today is Valentine's Day which is lots of hearts and love and actually reminds me of my mantra for Middle School (Glitter, Unicorns, Rainbows...this is what you repeat constantly when you teach middle school age children...trust me)...here is a visual. I swear it is tempting to get shirts made for my teachers to wear!

We did get Norah a little something for Valentine's Day...

I guess I should back up a little bit too...the second ice storm hit us and caused a lot more damage and havoc to our area. A lot of people lost power and trees/limbs have fallen all over the place. Seriously I do not think there is one yard that does not have branches down. There has been a lot of TV/Movie watching in this house to pass time. We were lucky to have some kiddos over yesterday so Norah was entertained plus she went to Game Night at the gym which she loved...but she so wants to go back to school. She asked me last night when does she get to go back...and I told her soon...that is so sweet. We have a lot of tree branches down in our yard (so it is even more of a mess than usual) and now we know we will be spending the weekend on clean up duty. And please say a prayer that my Mom and Denny get power back on...they have been without it since Tuesday!!!

And the dogs are getting tired of being inside...

I have finished watching all the back "Scandal" seasons and loved it! I'm ready for it when it starts back at the end of the month. And what is even funnier...is Jeff is now watching all the "Scandal" episodes now too to catch up! I think I will bit the bullet and watch Season 1 of "House of Cards" next.

I have to have a cute pic of Norah...during Homecoming week at school, a teacher bought some sparklers for our bonfire night and I brought some home for Norah...she liked it!

And since it is Valentine's Day...Norah and I both sported our "heart" shirts!

6 on Sunday...

1. We had "ice" days here in Pawleys with no school for three days. The first two days Norah did not feel well so it was a good time for her to rest. I had time to clean every room in my house. But by the third day...I think we were all getting a little stir crazy.

2. Friday was a blur after being off for three days...Norah went to a new Kids Hip Hop/Jazz dance class that she liked and I ended up getting to watch some middle school basketball games at school which was so fun to see the kids and parents. I came home and started not to feel so great so was afraid I could be getting sick from Norah's germs earlier in the week. Saturday was still not feeling great but took a trip to Charleston with a friend and had lunch at Zoe's (yes, love it and miss it from Charlotte!) and then we hit up Trader Joe's (yes, love it and miss it too!) We got lots of goodies and Norah picked out those flowers...so pretty!

3. Saturday I read a lot of my book and then took the plunge and started watching Season 1 of...

Okay...I'm glad I did not know what the show was really about (I thought it was a law firm and was going to be like "The Practice" or something but I heard that Kerry Washington's clothes were great and she liked wine...so figured can't be bad) ....ummmm....as I have one more episode in season 1 before I start season 2...

Yeah...it's good. It is fast paced and I love all the story lines at once and it is tempting to add Tony Goldwyn ("Fitz") to my celebrity boyfriend list. I am going to make sure I use terms as "gladiator" and "handled" more in my everyday life as I feel it could be appropriate now. So season 4 starts on February 27 so I got a lot of watching to do! I just hope it is as good come season 2 and beyond.....

4. Super Bowl Sunday...Go Broncos! Need I say more!

5. I just saw this article and I'm still not sure what to think about this but now want to find the entire article to read her interview. J.K. Rowling Confesses: Hermione Should Have Ended Up with Harry, Not Ron

6. Well gotta squeeze some work in before the Super Bowl madness begins...still taking some medicine so hope the germs leave me soon!
