An Amazing Book plus TV time...

Wow. I just read "The Martian" by Andy Weir and it was phenomenal. I'm in the state where I have had to tell everyone about the book because it is so good and I cannot even start a new book to read because I'm still so in love with the book. I loved the character Mark Watney in the book as well as the other characters so much that I wish he would write a sequel about what happens next in their lives. Anyway...a must read. The book is smart, funny, and a page turner! I ended up looking up the author and he seems like a fascinating guy. I think I will see the movie this weekend and hope it can live up to the book at least a little! For those of you who think the premise is not your thing (I was like this too!)...I promise you will find this book to be amazing too!

Now with football season on we are covered in the sports watching department but of course it is also when all the new TV shows come out. We started watching "Narcos" on Netflix and have watched two episodes...so far so good. You do have to pay attention as there is a lot of subtitles but it is interesting that it is based upon true events.

Today Season 1 Volume 2 of "Outlander" was released on Amazon and I am quite excited about it! I'm scared to start watching it as I know I will want to watch all the episodes back to back. Going to try to talk myself into spreading it out so it will last longer.

This Sunday, October 4, brings back two shows that I am pumped about..."Homeland" season 5 and "The Affair" season 2. Probably will end up watching them next week so we can still watch Sunday night football.

Whew! And all the movies will start coming out this Fall at the theaters...some which look pretty fabulous so that is exciting too! Now if I could only have about 30 hours a day instead of 24 to watch and read all this good stuff...

Day in Charleston...

Norah and I spent the day in Charleston. We left about 8:30 this morning and got back to Pawleys about 5:00 pm. We had the best time! Norah said it was like going on an adventure together! It was great to get out of town and do something different. We headed to the aquarium and we love looking at every little thing there. We had a lot of fun!

Then I asked Norah what she wanted for lunch...she said sushi! I thought this was hilarious since we just saw all the fish and and now she wanted to eat them! So we ate at Tsunami on East Bay and then we walked through the market and around downtown for a bit before heading home. It was overcast and rained a little but it didn't bother us a bit. I love spending time with my girl!

We are already planning our next "adventure!" Here are pics from the day...

Bike time and books...

Norah got a new bike and is ecstatic to ride her big girl bike! She seems so grown up to me when riding it. I actually teared up a little! I tell her that I'm going to stop her from growing up so fast! ;)
We had an impromptu family dinner out after Norah had tennis and all she could talk about was riding her bike after we ate...
So after dinner we went back on the bike!
I just finished reading two great books. The first one is "Big Little Lies" by Liane Moriarty. I have read two other books by this author and I thought this one was the best of the bunch. It was fast paced with a mystery built in....a really fun read!
Next up was "A Well-Tempered Heart" by Jan-Philipp Sendker. I read "The Art of Hearing Heartbeats" which I loved and this is the sequel. First, I find it so interesting that these books are originally written in German and translated into English. Second, I really loved this book as much as the first one. I find books set in other cultures so fascinating. If you read the first book...definitely read this one. I do think it helps to have read "The Art of Hearing Heartbeats" before reading this one too.
Well we are half way through the week and I think we are in for some rain. I'm hoping it will at least bring us Fall temperatures.

Weekend in review...

This weekend we started off with Friday night with music by Norah. This girl loves music and listens to all the "cool" music...it is pretty awesome!
Saturday was football time...Clemson had already played on Thursday (Go Tigers!) so watched some other games and then the UGA vs. Carolina game with friends over. We are also Georgia fans so of course we were pulling for the Dawgs...but I have to admit...I do love seeing Carolina lose to anyone. ;)
Sunday we had more football...(Go Panthers!) and Jeff took Norah to the beach. She found a sea urchin which was too cool!

Food was a plenty this weekend as Jeff cooked a Boston Butt all day on the grill Saturday for the game (no pics...boo!) but it was awesome and then a little lowcountry boil on Sunday!

So since we are a football watching house...I did not watch the Emmys but hit up People.com to check out the dresses. From what I saw on there here are my top 5.
Honorable Mention...normally I'm not a big pattern person but love the way this one looks and fits.
Believe it or not there was a lot of reading that happened this weekend too. I'm off to sub for the day and I already miss my girl! Here's to another Monday!
