Books...

Making these posts short and sweet since typing at library! I've been on a roll with reading. Here is the latest.

"All Summer Long" was a perfect summer read. I liked it a lot! Obviously cool that you know the local places in it and it was interesting. That perfect beach read.

Next up was "Before the Fall" and I really liked it. It starts off with a bang...plane crash...then you get the back stories on all the people involved in the crash. Enjoyed this and found it to be different then some other books so would recommend.

Then I read "The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls" and had heard mixed reviews on this one. However, I really liked it. I think it spoke volumes about the time period. A tragic incident happened and in today's times...would have been handled so differently but in the era...the problems were kinda "swept under the rug" so to speak. The main character clearly needed some sort of counseling, etc. as did other characters but that was not the norm then. Enjoyed this book a lot but I would not recommend it to just anyone as it does cover some topics that could make some people uncomfortable. So glad I read it!

And since I do not teach anymore (sad..I miss those kids!!) I do not read as much Young adult as I used to but heard about "This is what Happy Looks Like" and decided to read it. A cute Young adult book. Quick, easy read but cute.

Now to start a new book!

July happenings...

So there has been a lack of posts because my laptop is pretty much dead and I can't seem to write and post things via my ipad (I can add pictures.) Anyway...I decided on during my many trips to the library that I would just use their computer to add the words to the pics!

July has been a whirlwind and it is hard to remember all that has happened. At the beginning of the month we hit up lots of movies...we saw "BFG," "Finding Dory," and "The Secret Life of Pets." All were super cute but I think "The Secret Life of Pets" was our favorite out of the three. We ate sushi before the movie one day and I got the funniest pics of Norah!

4th of July week came and Mrs. Hoppe came to visit. Jeff cooked half a pig on the grill.

Beach time happened during the week!

And dinner out happened!
Next up...took the kids to Chick fil a one day before hitting one of the movies...
More beach time in July....

Pokemon Go adventures!
A special gift from Istanbul/Turkey arrived via my friend Meredyth! What a sweet gift...love it! I hope to travel one day!
Norah and I took a road trip to Florida to see her new cousin William. He is too cute!!

Always lots of beach time in the summer!!
And pool time too!

The saddest part...our neighbors moving to Clemson. We will miss them so much! We have been blessed to have wonderful neighbors when we lived in Charlotte and here too. Norah has loved going to play at their house!

One day we went to the new Rockin' Jump in Myrtle Beach...Norah had a blast!

And of course more Pokemon Go adventures!

Well today we are hitting up the pool! Cannot believe July is almost over! We still have some fun things planned so holding onto summer as long as we can!

Books...

Books I have read lately...

I love "American Wife" by Curtis Sittenfeld. So when I saw her new book and it is a modern retelling of "Pride and Prejudice"...I was sold! It is a cute book that was a great summer, beach read!

"A Doubter's Almanac" by Ethan Canin was next. I really enjoyed this book. I don't think this book would be for everyone based on the math "stuff" in it but I really got into it and the characters.

"The Nest" was a fun book but I did feel like I wanted it to be better. Some areas could have been edited and other areas I wanted more details. But a good summer read.

Read "Murder on the Orient Express" because it was a kindle deal of the day and I had never read it before. It was ok but her writing is very short/choppy with just a lot of conversations so not my favorite.

I was so excited about getting the book..."Georgia" but after a hundred pages I stopped reading. I think I wasn't in the mood for the book and it didn't seem plot based...more like just describing parts of Georgia O'Keefe's life. It is a fictional account and I might finish it at another time.

So next I needed summer fluff. I like Allison Winn Scotch so I knew her new book "in twenty years" would be an easy, light read. It was! Not a very deep book but perfect to transition into another book!

So now I'm ready to start another fun, beach read!
