Books 3-11 for 2018

I loved "Faithful" by Alice Hoffman and her "Marriage of Opposites" so I was excited when I saw she had a new book coming out. I have seen the movie "Practical Magic" but have not read the book. You do not have to know anything about "Practical Magic" (even though this is a prequel to it) as this book can stand alone. I did like it and those that like the "magic" aspect to characters then you will enjoy this book too. Alice Hoffman is a wonderful writer.

"Right Click" was a quick read of just staying on top of technology being a parent. It does have some good points.

I still have not seen the movie "Red Sparrow" even though it is what got me curious about the book. I heard the movie is not as good (no surprise there) so I will probably wait to see it later. The book is one of a trilogy and I read them back to back...they are good spy books. I liked the 1st and 2nd book but the 3rd book was not my favorite.

I saw "Birds of Wonder" on someone's blog...can't remember where now...and it was a 99 cents deal on Kindle so I read it. It was okay but there are some issues throughout that could be hard to read and I would not recommend this for everyone.

Next up was "Castle of Water" and I really enjoyed this book. I love the plane crash/survivor on island plot in general but this time the characters where so different and the outcome was too. I look forward to seeing what else this author writes about in the future.

The book "The Queen of Hearts" is popping up everywhere and it is going to be the perfect beach read. The author lives in Charlotte, NC and the present day in the book is set there too. So automatically I fell in love with all things Charlotte!! It reminded me of "Grey's Anatomy" so if you like that...you will like this book. The characters are fun and I even liked getting a glimpse into the doctor's everyday world. I would recommend this book for a fun, easy read. Also the author will be here (in Pawleys Island) tomorrow at our local bookstore signing books but I won't be able to make it. So if you are local...you should stop by!

"The Great Alone" was my Book of the Month Club book for February and I heard different thoughts about the book before reading. Well I really loved the book. I loved the way it is written, loved the setting, enjoyed the characters (even though you want to kill one,) and loved just the entire story. I would recommend this book and tell people that even though is 400+ pages...you will not want to put it down. This is one of my favorites of the year so far along with "Little Fires Everywhere."

Linking up with Modern Mrs. Darcy today as it is one of the main blogs that I find out about so many books!! Check it out!!

Catching up...

Norah made her school's academic team this year and they competed against 5th grade students at other schools in the county. Norah participated in two events and she and her partner won the Mathtastic section!! Then her school won the whole competition for 5th grade. So proud of her!

Of course the Olympics happened and if you follow Leslie Jones on Instagram...she was hilarious in her support of USA! Loved it.

Norah is playing tennis at a new place since she is at the age where she is ready to play more tennis...and she is loving it!

Cotillion happened and it was Daddy's turn to "dip into dancing" night...they are just the cutest!

Family Car Selfies are our specialty! I cannot wait til one day when Norah is older...and I put together a book of nothing but family car selfies through the years. I feel like Norah changes everyday!

Went to dinner with friends one night and this was the view from our seats...

Darcy loves to just sit outside. I catch him just sitting there staring out the fence. He is so amazing.

This is a pic of Norah's desk in her playroom...slime central. Seriously she makes every kind of slime known and then sells it at school! Ha!!

Oh of course....another family car selfie!

These cuties going on a bike ride! Love them!!
