Please don't end weekend....

This has been a great weekend and I so wish it didn't have to end. Jeff came home on Friday and the best part...it is finally for good! YEAH! I cannot tell you how excited Norah and I are that he is here all the time now. It was really tough not having him during the week especially once school started but now we are super happy that he is home now! So ABS Coastal Insulating (insulation and gutters) is in business...spread the word!
Norah had horseback riding lessons on Saturday and did great. They actually asked to change her from western lessons to English style lessons because she is interesting in learning to jump on the horse. The teacher let Norah do a "mini" jump with the horse, Issac, and she loved it!
Saturday also involved a purchase for Jeff...he got a new TV for his birthday. It was a combo gift from my mom and Norah/me. He has put the 37" TV where you ask? The GARAGE! He is obsessed with the garage! So with the new TV came lots of football watching. Our friend, Ellis came by to eat with us and watch some games. It was a low key day but great!!

Today Norah and I went to Sunday School and then I went to Church. Came home and Jeff let me take a nap while he took Norah to Brookgreen Gardens. A friend of mine (Thanks Cynthia!) gave me two free passes to Brookgreen that expired today so I was glad he used them. Norah and Jeff had a great time. They got to see the animals in the zoo and go into the Butterfly House where Norah got to touch some of them. Needless to say, we will be heading back soon.

I also saw a movie preview this weekend that actually looked good..."Argo"...so it is now on the list to see. And since it is a movie that Jeff would probably want to see...we might actually go see it! :)
Well I'm off to get some school things done for tomorrow and watch some football with the hubby! I do wish I had one more day for this weekend!

Books and Stuff....

I've been on the blog posting kick lately. Well it is Thursday and since all the new TV came out this week...I have to admit this is the first night I actually want to see some of the new shows. I love "Big Bang Theory" (which I will watch tonight)..."Person of Interest" and "Elementary" which I am recording both (DVR is starting to get loaded up!) and will probably watch tomorrow with Jeff. Has anything else been good this week?

Well lately life has been busy with just the little things and after a full day I still try to read a little at night. I've been reading "Liturgical Life Principles" for the Adult Sunday School class as it is what we are discussing. I really like it and recommend it.
I'm also still reading "Still Life" by Louise Penny when time permits...I even read some today using my Kindle App on my cell phone when I had a free minute.

Also on the book front, a friend here is trying to get together a book club (come on Sally...I'm so excited about it!!!)...and I've always wanted to do a book club so I was thinking of books to suggest and here are a few I found...

They all sound great! I of course could pick like 20 books off my wish list that I want to read! I love hearing about different books so I cannot wait to see what others suggest too.

Movies....why is there really no movies that really seem great lately? (Not that I have watched any lately anyway) There just hasn't been any out there that seem that great. I do see that "Avengers" is out on DVD so we may need to watch that one at some point...but now that football is on...who has time?! :)
I'm excited for this weekend. So far all we have planned is Horseback Riding, checking out the local Atalaya Festival and Church. There also will be house chores, football and just plain family time...sounds like a perfect weekend (besides the chore part!)
Well gotta get a couple things done so I can watch "Big Bang" at 8!

Mid-Week Update...

Sunday I taught Noah's Ark in Sunday School...the kids were so cute! Then we headed to Myrtle Beach where Norah went to a "Sparkles" birthday party for a girl in her class. She wore a princess dress to the party and they did their nails, hair and make-up. Then as the party favor they got to take the make-up home. Well she was a little bit of a party pooper at the party (a combination of hunger and being tired did her in) but once she got in the car to head home. She applied some more make-up to her face and then passed out for the rest of the ride home!

Sunday night Jeff and I went to a fundraiser dinner for school at a local restaurant here, Frank's. The food was AMAZING and we had a great time. Monday and Tuesday came and went... and today Norah had an end of summer party at school. There was lots of water play involved...she had a blast! (I promise that those "Cottages" you see in the background are not what the whole school looks like! Ha! Ha!) :)
Today was a busy day and then a meeting after school so baby girl was done for the day and so was I...it was a long day. But tonight a student of mine from last year texted me and it was so great to hear from her and then I was able to chat with one of my co-workers from last year...those two things totally brightened my day! I miss all of y'all at the Hollow! :)

So now it is time for some random tidbits...
JK Rowling has a new book coming out called "The Casual Vacancy." Anyone heard anything about it yet? I can't wait to hear about it...I think I will have to add it to my "To be Read" list.

How cute are these measuring spoons from Anthropologie?! I would love to have them!

I love Trader Joe's pumpkin bread mix....is it out yet? I may have to bribe some Charlotte folks to mail me a couple of boxes!

Well off to get ready for another day...we are almost to the weekend! Wahoo!

The Saturday Seven...

1. Yesterday Norah had donuts for Dads at school and has been talking about it for awhile. Jeff went and they both loved it! Norah got a little sad when Daddy Jeff had to leave her after it was over...but she made it through the day okay! (I guess sugar cured all!)

Hats were in that day as you can tell!!

2. We had FFF Night last night (Fun, Family, Friday) and it was great! One family was not able to be with us as sickness hit so we missed you, O'Tuel family! The kids got along great and seemed to keep themselves entertained! Can't wait for the next one...and again I took no pictures...it is funny how sometimes it doesn't cross my mind!

3. We had Norah's first Horseback Riding Lesson today...and she LOVED it! Her instructor was Miss Jane and the she rode a horse named Thunder. I loved how they first had Norah brush the horse, clean its feet, etc so she was familiar with the horse. Then after riding she had to clean up the horse. She was not scared at all (which you never know) and really enjoyed it. It was also a beautiful place and I enjoyed being out there watching everything too! Can't wait til next week!

4. Want a new addiction...try Ben and Jerry's frozen yogurt...Blueberry Vanilla Graham...Oh my word...it is so good!
5. Jeff went hunting today...they left super early this morning...when he got back he was able to have some "me" time without us here which I know he needed! Since Norah and I ran lots of errands after Riding lessons...by the time we got home...Jeff took Norah to the beach and I got my "me" time! Now we are making decisions about what to have for dinner....

6. Yesterday at school I pulled an incoming fax off the fax machine...and it was for a Harry Potter Reading Club through Scholastic! I was so excited...I totally joined and downloaded all the discussion guides for each book! Love it! I think I might even print some off the Harry Potter bookmarks too! :)

7. Tonight we will be watching Clemson play and just chillin' out! Go Tigers! Tomorrow is a busy day around here...so better get some relaxation time while I can!

It's Tuesday...

Literally twice today I thought it was Thursday...um...a little ahead of myself there. So Norah was being creative today when we got home and decided to make her own "Tattoo" on her leg with sticker jewels!

Design 2 was a kite!

So the only thing else happening is that I'm back on the instant coffee kick. When we put our house on the market I put the coffee pot up to clear the counters and started drinking instant coffee. After we sold our Charlotte house...the coffee pot came back out and regular brewed coffee happened. But then I got tired of making coffee everyday and cleaning the coffee pot when I was the only one drinking coffee...so instant came back in my life. The sad part is...I actually really like it. I even can drink it black lately. Scary but true.
Well I'm off to do a couple of things and then have some time to read! I promised myself that I needed a night off from school work...it is so hard not to do anything with it...I hope I can hold out!

Today has been busy...

We got up this morning and Norah and I went to Sunday School (I went to the Adult version while she went to the Kid version.) Then I headed to Church and Jeff picked Norah up to head home. Jeff got painting and when I returned home from Church...he was rolling away. We actually did not quite finish the family room/kitchen but not too much is left. We watched the Panthers beat the Saints...well it was on so we kinda listened/watched as we cleaned, painted, did laundry, etc. Then we headed to Nini and Pops where Norah spent an hour dancing to this new Wii game...she loved it!
We also stuffed ourselves with dinner and dessert! Now we are home and I just finished my SmartBoard slides for class tomorrow and next have to grade a few quizzes. Then just a little more painting before I call it a night. Whew...it has been a busy weekend!
I have to leave with some pictures of Norah...I took these today as we were driving over to my mom's house for dinner. Jeff was driving and she was laughing at him so I turned around a snapped a few pics...she is the cutest, sweetest thing...I love her to death!! :)

Lots of Painting, Beach time, Horses and Football...

Today started early with breakfast out with a family breakfast at Litchfield Restaurant. It is amazing how it is not crowded that the main summer season is over.

After a quick trip to ACE Hardware, we arrived home and started to paint. Our goal is to paint every room in our house the same color...Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore (we also thought we would have this done all of this by now...obviously we are not painters because it takes forever to prep and then paint...lesson learned)

Before today we had painted 3 bedrooms, Norah's bathroom and one coat in the den/family room area. After tomorrow we will have to add the list: the den/family room second coat and two coats on the trim (white) and kitchen. All that is left is the dining room, living room, foyer, hallway and our bathroom. Aaaaahhhhhh! Oh well....at least the rooms we are in the most are looking good!

We also got a new table in our breakfast area that is so great! Loving it....it is large enough for eating and doing work stuff.

Well Jeff did take Norah to the beach today while I was painting away...they had a blast and made new friends. She loved every minute with her Daddy! :)

Another exciting thing is we signed Norah up for Horseback riding lessons. She has mentioned it a couple of times and a friend of ours is doing it so we have our first one next Saturday at the Wachesaw Equestrian Center. She is very excited about it so I hope she loves it!
And a Saturday in September would not be complete without lots of football action. It has been nice to have different games on in the room while we paint away. Now I'm off to do one more coat on the part of the baseboards....

Thursday Things...

A friend of mine who lives in NYC sent me this pic via text that she took on Sept. 11. I think it is pretty awesome! September 11, 2001 is a day I will never forget and still remember everything about the day and what I was doing, etc. It is such a tragic, sad day.

Norah has been tired after school these days. We live just a few miles from our school and Norah was asleep Tuesday in the car within minutes of leaving the school...how cute! Kindergarten is tough! :)
With Fall coming, the weather has been amazing here! I love the Fall...it is probably my favorite season. I have seen a couple of new TV show previews come on TV for new series and one that looks interesting is "Elementary." I wonder if there will be any other good new series coming out?
I feel like I really don't watch that much TV anymore...the TV will be on but I'm not really "watching" it lately. But I am excited for the new "Big Bang Theory", "Downton Abbey" and of course all the football to be on TV!

This week is just a normal week with the usual work, school, etc...nothing too exciting. Can't wait till tomorrow....Fridays are the best!

Monday Musings...

1. I got up this morning and the first thing I heard about was Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively getting married at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, SC...doesn't it seem like he did the same thing when he married Scarlett...one day not married and "boom" then next day you find out he got married...hope this one is not going down the same path...
2. I have been sick for about the past 5 days but today finally started feeling better. Thank goodness! So now I feel like I have a million things to do to catch up.

3. I was reading "Sea Change" but wasn't loving it so switched gears and read "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World" by Joanna Weaver. I liked but wished I had gotten the actual  book and not the Kindle version as there is a lot of cool stuff that I would like to re-read but would have to find on Kindle.
Then I went back to reading "Sea Change" but I'm on page 85 and I'm still not into the book so I'm debating whether to read more and see or just switch to "Still Life" by Louise Penny? Decisions....

4. I've talked to some of my students from last year lately...I sure do miss all of them! They were a great bunch of kids. I also keep in touch with my team of teachers from last year and it is fun to hear how everyone is this school year.

5. Norah is having her first fundraiser at school...I have a feeling that this is just the beginning of Fundraisers. Sally Foster...so if you need anything...let me know! There is a code I can give you to give Norah credit on their website.

6. Does anyone in Charlotte (you could give to Jeff to bring) or near Pawleys Island have the turquoise "bubble" necklace you see everywhere? If so...can I borrow it to wear to something? Let me know!!
7. This past Friday night we had our new version of "Neighbor Night" that I think may be renamed "Friday Fun Family Night" with three other couples. There were 8 adults and 8 kids and we loved every minute of it!! We hope to host the next one! And since I didn't take any pics at it...here is a pic of Norah in the car this morning on the way to school. My mom found my bear that I loved when I was little, Beazel, and gave it to Norah...after a good washing...now Norah loves Beazel as much as I did!! So cute! That is Beazel in the car this morning too...he rode with us to school but had to stay in the car during the school day!

8. We joined the Church we have been attending here and I think I am even up to teach Sunday School...should be fun!

9. Since school is back and I always have a "Quote of the Week" for my students. Here are two that I thought were pretty nifty.
