Recovering...

I think Jeff and I have finally recovered from our whirlwind weekend and things are starting to get back to normal. We have cleaned up everything and are back on schedule. No more junk food. :) So now we need to switch gears and get ready for our beach week next week. Car needs oil change, laundry, packing, etc. You know how it goes!

Well tomorrow is the big day..."Eclipse" the movie will be out...I swear if I didn't have to be at work at 8:30 am....I would go to the midnight showing! But since I would die at work tomorrow of sleepiness...I'll have to miss out. But I can't wait to see it! (Eclipse was my favorite book of the 4)

So I didn't exercise Sat, Sun, or Monday...the longest stint of nothing in forever (and I could tell.) So tonight I went for a long walk...and I took my ipod. Normally I do not take music for 1. safety and 2. I like the peace and quiet to de-stress. But tonight it was great! I listened to the music loud and basically was like dancing in my head and trying to remember not to sing out loud so not to scare the neighbors! :)

I did plan my loose 16 week schedule for my next half-marathon and think if these temps stay like they are...I will have to do some treadmill action...which I'm not a fan of...but what ya going to do. Well no pics tonight because I'm ready to get in the shower and hit the bed!

But I will leave you with something....TEAM EDWARD!! ;)

Birthday Weekend: Part 3 Sunday

Got up at 5:45 am and went ahead and picked up toys outside, finished cleaning up some things. Once Norah got up...it was an interesting morning...but then we were off to catch the "train" (light rail.) Once we got there...we were all so excited! So we got on the train at one of the park and rides...we loved riding the train to uptown. Jeff and I have already decided that we should do this like once a month...it was so easy and fun! We definitely want to plan a date night and ride the train uptown.

We got to the theatre right at 11 and headed straight to our seats and the show started. Norah was mesmorized the moment it started until it ended. She loved it! Jeff and I even thought it was great and enjoyed it! They had 4 segments...Kai Lan, Backyardigans, Wonder Pets, and Dora. Once it was over...we headed back on the train home. When Norah took a nap...I crashed...I was so tired my eyes hurt!!

Tonight we asked Norah what was her favorite part of her birthday weekend and she said seeing Dora show! She asked if she could go again! We'll have to find something else to take her to as the Nickelodeon show was only here for this weekend. I am so happy that she had a great time this weekend...as a parent...you just want your child to have the best birthday and enjoy it! As we all know they grow up so fast! I think she had a great time...so Jeff and I are happy!

Here is Norah checking out the train schedule. She was so excited when she saw the train coming down the tracks!
Me and my baby girl on the train

This is during the show...she was so into watching it! It was really cute!

This is Kai Lan...we actually had seats in the third row so we were really close!

This is the Backyardigans

WonderPets
Dora...definitely Norah's favorite show out of the four but she did like them all!!

"the map" from Dora

"Princess" Dora

This is at the end when they all came out and sang "Shout"....Norah was dancing in her chair...it was really cute!

And we let her have one thing at the show...guess what she picked...cotton candy!!! As you can tell she loved it! This was on the train ride home....
Well I picked up her cupcakes for school tomorrow and about to get one load of laundry started...and then off to bed. Tomorrow I will have to unpack my office at our new office. Also tomorrow is Norah's real birthday so we'll see what she wants to do...hopefully low key! Maybe just playing in the back yard with the neighbors after school? The bed is so calling my name...

Birthday Weekend: Part 2 Saturday

Well getting up Saturday morning around 5:45 am after not much sleep...tough! But we got up and started back into getting everything ready for the party...finishing the food, getting outside ready, picking up balloons, getting ice for the coolers...and the list goes on. We also let Norah open her present which was a princess soccer ball and soccer nets. We were literally exhausted by lunch! Norah took a good nap and when she got up...my mom, step-dad and sister's two boys were here.

They got an early start on playing outside and the other guests started arriving at 5 pm. I ended up getting a little more stuck in the kitchen then planned so I didn't get as many pics of Norah in action as I would have liked...but oh well. Jeff watched her and said she had a blast! I wanted to get a pic of the backyard and all its glory....it had two pools, water table, and a zillion toys all over the place. I did get some balloons for the front as well but forgot to take a pic of that too.

All the kids played and ate and then headed home. I loved seeing everyone even though I feel like I only got to talk to a couple people for like a second....I think that always happens when you are the host of the party. We then opened gifts and next thing you know it was bed time for Norah! She did stay up late but was asleep around 9 pm. My sister's boys stayed up a little later...so unfortunately the rest of the night wasn't as relaxing or peaceful as planned ;)

Random pic of the puppies that morning. They were so good at the party! Also Thursday night at the vet...Darcy weighed 12.6 pounds and Finn was 11.6 pounds!
Norah opening up her present from us!

The food. We did Mexican themed food since it was a Dora party! Also there is Ellen in background...she is 37 weeks pregnant with her first baby boy!!

Norah blowing her candle out! She wore that "necklace" as she calls it Friday night and Saturday night!
Bo and Michael! How precious!

Hughes, Norah and William. William is our neighbor and I love the way Norah is looking at him! So sweet!

Lila and Harper! The girls!

Pic of the table!

Little Michael with his Dad!

Denny and Robyn
Daddy Jeff, Norah and Harper in action!

Shawna and Evie!
Norah opening presents! (That dark spot is where she fell out of the hammock into the dirt)

More presents....
and more presents...

One of my favorite things with the birthday party...was seeing the kids. These kids are the same ones that were at her 1st and 2nd birthday parties and I love seeing them change, grow up, and interact with each other. I can't believe that Norah will be three tomorrow! Time flies!
Well next up is Part 3 Sunday...feels like it is never going to end...huh?!

Birthday Weekend: Part 1 Friday

Whew!! This has been an exhausting weekend but worth it for baby girl! Friday...after packing up at work...(I had to get more boxes for the office at 3:40 pm!! Ahhhh!) So I rushed home and Jeff picked up Norah on his way back from Greensboro. Time we got everything together, we headed to Hughes birthday party..."Toy Story" theme. Hughes is turning 3 too! We had a blast there and got home around 8:15ish...then once Norah was in bed...we started getting ready for Norah's party.

I made cupcakes, dips, etc. Jeff worked on getting the backyard ready. Needless to say, we went to bed really late!!! Here are some pics from Hughes Party!!

Here is the birthday boy with the cute blond curls!
Here is another table of cute kids!

Of course...here is Norah!

Norah eating her cake pop!

The three girls at the party!! (Harper, Norah and Abby) How cute are they!!!!!

Here is a pic of all the kids!

There is my handsome hubby!!

The kids had the best time at the end of the party letting the balloons go into the sky...Norah just let one go and everyone (except Norah at the moment) is looking at it in the sky....up...up...up and away!
Next up...part 2 Saturday!

Friday Fives...

So today we are packing up our offices and moving to a new office building...the movers come tomorrow. So I have packed up every file, pen, tape, etc. and now not a whole lot to do so I thought I would follow my friend Kathryn's lead and do the Friday Fives.

1. If given a choice to skip work for a day, how would you spend the entire day?

There are like a zillion things I would want to do...spend the day with Norah, go on a long run at the Greenway, read a book, sleep, drink wine with friends, have a date night with hubby, go to the movies, get a massage, get a facial, look at magazines, get a pedicure, read blogs and the list could go on and on....

2. If you could start fresh, what profession would you choose?

Actually this may come into play very soon...I'm about to make a drastic career change but not ready to discuss yet!!!

3. What is your favorite candy or candy bar?

I mean what isn't? I pretty much like it all... (except I don't like Almond Joys or anything with coconut in it)

4. Have you ever ordered anything from an infomercial or bought an "As seen on TV Item"?

I can't think of anything... I'm a big online shopper as I kinda hate to actually go to the store shopping but can't think of anything that I have bought that was on tv or something....

5. What movies do you always cry at? Beaches and Steel Magnolias...I'm sure there is more but these popped into my head first.

Well I have so much to do when I leave work and tonight...I wish we could leave early!!!

Crazy busy....

Let's see Tuesday...got up and walked with my neighbor...took Norah to school (she had water day at school!) and then went to work. Came home and Norah started complaining that her ear hurt. Wednesday got up and took Norah to the doctor and she has an ear infection...I mean I should just get a yearly supply of antibiotics as my kid is always on them!!! So I stayed home with her and whenever she doesn't feel good...she usually takes a nap on the couch...and I got a picture...she is the cutest thing ever!!

So since I didn't run in the morning...I went at 9 pm on Wednesday...it was still HOT! Then Thursday morning I went walking, took Norah to school, went to work. After work...hit up Party City, Liquor store and grocery store. Came home, made dinner and then took both puppies to the vet. Came back...cleaned up, had a friend come pick up some stuff...gave Norah bath....now writing this! It has been non-stop!

This weekend is going to be crazy busy but all in a good way! Tomorrow one of Norah's friends is turning three and having a "Toy Story" party. So after I get off work...we will all head to that. Then I have to come home and make food for Norah's party on Saturday! Norah is having a "Dora the Explorer" themed party at our house on Saturday for family and a few friends and I have a lot to do before then!!

Then Sunday...we are riding the train (light rail...but Norah calls it the train) into Uptown Charlotte to see Nickelodeon Live featuring Dora, Backyardigans, Kai-Lan and the Wonder Pets! Then Monday is actually Norah's 3rd birthday so I am taking cupcakes to school for her to share with her class! Monday night we will probably do something with her too in celebration! (I like birthdays!) Then next week is the final week before I go to the beach for a full week!! YEAH!

Well I'm off to get ready for bed and start this whirlwind of next few days! Oh yeah....last night Jeff and I were talking and I have only about 4 months till my next half marathon so I need to start getting some long runs in again. However, it is 400 degrees!! So should I wake up and run like at 5 am on Saturday?! Also I really want to get the foam roller thing everyone is talking about...I think that would totally help my legs. They are getting tight after exercising in this heat. And oh yeah...we are moving offices tomorrow so we will be packing everything...good times...good times! :)

Hello Ya'll!

Happy Monday! We had a good Father's Day...Jeff's parents came over for dinner and the whole weekend was just pretty low key. So since there is absolutely no tv on these days...I borrowed the first season of "The Big Bang Theory" from a co-worker....that show is hilarious! We watched some over the weekend and I watched some tonight. I already can't wait for the fall where there is football on the weekends and new shows during the week (and not 150 degrees...it is so hot right now!)! Of course "Big Brother" comes out soon...it is one of those super cheesy reality shows that I either love or hate each year...the sad thing is I hope I love it this summer as there is nothing else to watch!!

Well workout wise...ran on Saturday and walked on Sunday night. Today nothing so far but I'm still trying to motivate to do something... Also ate so good today...until tonight...my neighbor made homemade cookies...and not the slice and bake kind...I have no willpower when she gave me that little bad of cookies! Yum! Now I should really motivate to work out! :)
Also the countdown has begun...July 2 (or 3rd...not sure yet) I will be headed to the beach for a full week of vacation! I can't wait! And the best part is to be with Norah everyday!! Well I guess I'm off to clean the kitchen and debate to whether take a walk around the neighborhood, hit the treadmill, or just go to bed! I have a feeling bed will win but trying...

Had no idea...

I had no idea that they made a movie of one of my favorite books..."The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"! A friend of ours (Toby) just told us it was playing at the local theatre in Charlotte (Manor)...I so want to go see it!! I might have to see if we can get a babysitter in the next week and go check it out. Toby said it was great! I guess I haven't heard about it because it isn't at the main movie theatres?

Okay so I have to brag on Norah for a minute (Moms..you understand!)...everyday they do an art project at school in the morning and at the end of the day you pick it up with their stuff. So hate to say it but usually I just throw it away unless it is something stellar. (Sorry Norah!) Well yesterday Jeff picked her up and brought home her art...I looked at it and said "no way Norah did this...the teacher must have done it with her." So I just trashed it...
Well today I dropped Norah off and the teacher asked me what I thought of Norah's art work yesterday....I said "What? She didn't do it...did she?" and they were like....yes...she did it all by herself with no help and they couldn't believe how good it was! They said it was the best they had seen in her class. That she took her time and they were just as amazed as I was. The teacher wrote her name in the bottom right corner and drew the green grass over the name...then told Norah that she drew grass. Norah drew the rest...the flowers, sun and cloud!! I am sorry but for a 2 yr old who will be 3 in less than two weeks and you can tell exactly what everything is and using the right colors...genius! :) Just had to share...here is the pic! (I called Jeff at home and had him get it out of the trash can!)
Well I'm off to get one more load of laundry done and then bedtime for me!!

Movies and Stuff....

Happy Tuesday! Is it hot enough around here? It is super hot and it is only the beginning of June! So Monday I did a 3 mile run at 5:30 am and still had to take a hand-held of gatorade and water mix...it was like 75 degrees at 5:30....crazy! So yesterday started my summer working schedule where we work till 4 pm everyday. I love getting off at 4...that extra hour is great! Tonight Jeff, Norah and I went and had sushi and Norah had vegetable fried rice...she ate it some with her chop sticks....I wish I had gotten a pic....let's just say there was a lot of rice on the table.

So now that summer is starting there are usually some good movies that come out. I probably won't get to see many at the theatre as for some reason it is so hard to go...but I hope to see a few.
Definitely seeing "Eat Pray Love" with Julia Roberts...I loved this book!!

My mom and I are planning on seeing "Eclipse" over July 4th weekend. I heart Edward!! (I've read these books twice!!)

"A Team" cracks me up and I would love to see it! Plus Bradley Cooper is foxy!
Well another random thought...Meredyth and I were talking about how we used to make "Goals for the Night" when we lived in ATL. So I was thinking about different goals I want to set for myself...probably a little different than the goals we used to set (Ha!). Some simple goals...like eat a salad once a day for a month, read at least one book a month (I've gotten slack on my reading), Exercise 6 days a week, etc. That is one thing I love about reading blogs...they are so motivational about making goals and following through...we'll see how I do and maybe get some concrete goals going.
What are your goals and any other good movies coming out this summer that I need to make sure to catch?
