A visit and Norah's 9th birthday

My friend Christie from Charlotte and her two girls came to visit with us. I love when they come down here...I love catching up and squeezing in as much as possible into our days...which we did! They arrived early on Thursday and we went to the beach and then to the pool where we ate dinner. (I was not good on pic taking!) It was a big day!

The next day we celebrated Norah's birthday at my friend's Julie's beach house. She and her kids were in town from Charlotte too! The kids had a blast playing, eating pizza, and finishing it off with the biggest cookie cake!

After completion of a puzzle...we let the girls stay up to watch the new "Adventures in Babysitting" on Disney Channel before hitting the bed.

We got up the next morning and hit the beach one more time before Christie and her girls had to leave to head back to Charlotte. Needless to say...we were worn out and Norah fell asleep on the couch!

We miss our Charlotte peeps and are planning to visit them soon this summer. As fun as it is living here...I sure miss my Charlotte sometimes!

The birthday celebration continued as Norah's true birthday was June 28. I cannot believe my girl is 9 years old. I was looking back through the blog at her previous birthdays and amazed to see how much she has grown! This girl is my everything and has my complete heart! I am so proud of her in every way. Love her so much! As much as I want her not to grow up...I love every stage and enjoy every moment that I get to spend with her. She is growing up to be a great girl.

Birthday night she had a friend spend the night and got to pick where she wanted to eat dinner. She wanted sushi so we gave her three options of sushi in the area but she wanted to try the new restaurant in town called "OKtopi" which was super yummy! Loved the modern decor and the staff was very friendly and fun!

Came home and I had made per her request the pie she has had for her birthday the past 3 years!

Then the next night my Aunt and Uncle took Norah out to eat at Miyabi! She was so excited as she loves Miyabi and she had a great time!!

Today is the last day of June and let me tell ya...June was super busy! Whew! Now to get ready for July!

Lately...

We have been having a busy summer so far! Once Norah got out of school...she did a pottery camp here and then the following week she headed to Camp Seafarer for overnight camp. She made a few friendship bracelets before going.

The night before we left for Camp Seafarer we went to our new neighbors' house for a pool party. So fun!!

We headed up to camp (family car selfie) and stopped in Wilmington for lunch and to walk around downtown.
Saw this sign downtown...hilarious!

We had lunch at this restaurant "Fork & Cork" and I loved the atmosphere! It would be awesome to hang out there again!

Norah got ice cream for dessert and she ate it while checking out the river.

Next up was New Bern where we stayed the night. Norah headed to the pool which is on the river. They had a live band playing too so it was so nice to just chill out for a bit.

Then we went to dinner at "Persimmons" where we ate last year too. Norah read her book and snacked on an app while we waited for a table.

Such a fun night...we ran into lots of people taking their kids to camp the next day and just enjoyed the view, food, and company! And the sunset was beautiful!

The next morning we headed to Camp Seafarer where we left Norah for the week in cabin 40. I did hold off my tears until the car...but I missed Norah so much all week!

She had an amazing time and even contemplates going next year for two weeks! We picked her up at the end of the week and I was so happy to have my girl home again! She had a blast at camp and loved hearing all about it from her.

Needless to say, she was exhausted and fell asleep on the way home.

Once we got back...our weekend got started. We had some boat time which is always super fun.

A breakfast together celebrating Father's Day!

I painted our front door!

Then we continued our summer fun with beach trips...

So glad to have her home! This summer is going by so fast...slow down!

Catching up...

Summer has officially started! Pool time is happening...

Lots of yard work...Norah is a big helper!

Movie watching...

And the end of 3rd grade (tears for me.) Norah got all As, she won one of the top 2 students in 3rd grade to score highest in National Language Arts test, 99 percentile in both math and reading on MAP testing, and basically is always an amazing kid! I wish I could slow down time but she is more then prepared for 4th grade! We are super proud parents and love watching her succeed!

Of course I took her to celebrate after I picked her up from school that day!

We also have hit the beach several times...it never gets old. I do admit that I wear a ton of sunscreen, a sun shirt and hat...and now considering getting an umbrella as I try not to get too much sun anymore. It is official...I'm getting old. ;)

I also got to go to the movies and dinner with my friend Amanda. Saw "Me Before You" and even though it couldn't compare to the book...I still enjoyed it. It was lovely seeing the characters on the big screen. And it was fun to go out for the night!

Yep...we were back to the beach...I love that I can read on the beach. One of my favorite things is to be on the beach reading and watching my girl play!

Today starts pottery camp for Norah...cannot wait to see what she makes! Also looks like we are about to get some rain again...
