Week in review...

Last week went by in a blur! We were busy...tennis, art, book fairs, mornings at preschool, a flat tire, 4 new tires, working out, monopoly, watching football (Go Tigers and Panthers!)...just to name a few things! But it was a great week and it is hard to believe that we now are just a few days from Thanksgiving!

Norah made the school weekly newsletter again for her art award!! Well off to gear up for a short school week and the countdown is on for the holidays!

11th wedding anniversary...Charleston fun...

Jeff and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary on Friday, November 13 and headed to Charleston where we celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary! (We talked about how fun it would be to relive our wedding reception...a fun night!)

Jeff had to do some work in Charleston so he dropped my off at the Town Center Shopping area in Mt. Pleasant while he did his work. I got to shop, have lunch, and see the new Bond movie before Jeff picked me back up at 3 pm to head downtown.

Loved eating at Zoe's Kitchen....used to eat it a lot in Charlotte and ole' Bond. Let's see...British men in well tailored clothes getting things done...yep I loved it!

We stayed at the Ansonborough Inn and loved it! Our room had a separate sitting area with a big couch, mini fridge, etc. The Inn had a bottle of Champagne and note ready in our room when we arrived...so thoughtful! We really enjoyed staying here and would stay here again!

We then got a drink at the Market Pavilion rooftop bar...which had a great view and loved our drinks. Okay my drink and Jeff's beer! ;)

This is my face of excitement of being in a city! We went back to our room and changed clothes for the night and went to the place I read about recently...The Gin Joint...I really enjoyed having a drink made by giving the bartender two adjectives! I would visit again!

Picture above is from The Gin Joint and pic below was out next stop at High Cotton. High Cotton had a jazz band so we sat and listened to it at the bar before having dinner there. We ate here on our first wedding anniversary too!

When they sat us...we had the perfect table at the window so we could people watch, they also had a hand written note on our table and free champagne for us!

Afterwards we headed back (loved that we walked everywhere!) and hit the hay. We laughed that we are getting old and once we ate dinner...we were done for the night!

The next morning...Jeff had to do a little work so we went to the battery for a quick view and snap some pics before hitting the road.

We both agreed that we wished we had more time...so much to do in Charleston and so little time! It was so nice to get away for a night and go somewhere out of town. A huge thank you to our friends for taking care of Norah and our dogs while we were gone...she had a blast!

On a sad note...we heard about Paris while out and watched the news. Such tragedy. Also reminded of the bombing in Beirut days earlier. So much is happening in our world...prayers for everyone.

Catching up, obsessions, and two book reviews...

Last week Norah had her award assembly where she got recognized for her all As and then won 1st place in a mask decorating contest she entered. She was so excited! Jeff got to see her and took this pic for me. I didn't make it because I was subbing (had committed before I knew about assembly) but she loved having her Daddy go to school with her that morning. (Side note: Have been subbing a lot at this precious Preschool and loving it!)

Norah was also recognized in the weekly newsletter for being selected as one of eight 3rd grade students to participate in the CATE Expo. She really enjoyed it and loved telling me all about what they did there. So proud of her!

Then Friday night Norah went to her first slumber party for a friend's birthday! There were a total of five girls that spent the night and she said it was lots of fun! Hard to believe I have a daughter old enough for slumber parties...time is going by too fast! Jeff and I squeezed in a date night which was pretty cool too!

Saturday brought the game! It was so fun watching Clemson beat Florida State! Watched every minute of it!

It is amazing to watch Clemson play football like this...I mean #1!!! I think it is so cool that I went to school there and it is famous! ;)

Sunday we made it to early Church...we are trying to get back in a more consistent going to Church...not sure how we got off track but we love when we go! Then we hit up Bisqit for breakfast...yum!

Okay...I have some new obsessions this week...first there is Adele's new song which I have been playing a zillion times. And then there is my new love....Tonkey! So somehow I saw this on my Instagram feed and Norah and I sat there for like 15 minutes looking at all the pics and videos of this dog named Tonkey. He is so freakin' precious and it cracks me up!! Tonkey forever! :)

Wednesday Norah did not have school in observance of Veteran's Day. We decided to have a Mommy and me day and traveled to Myrtle Beach. We went to the mall where she jumped on the bungy thing, ate lunch, and then saw a movie. It was such a fun day...I loved having just Norah and me time. It makes me happy to think about how we do these things together and I hope we always have these moments as she gets older. Love my girl!

Movie was really cute!! Norah has been wanting to see it since it came out...glad we made it before it went out of the theaters.

We were the only ones in the movie theater!

Okay book time....
I read "Who do you Love" by Jennifer Weiner and I really liked it a lot until the end...for some reason I did not like the ending. I'm not sure how I wanted it to end but it just seemed rushed and predictable. I'm not sure... But if you read her books...it is a really good one.

Next up was "Circling the Sun" by Paula McLain. I have been waiting for this one and had such high expectations. I loved "The Paris Wife," love the premise of any real person and/or events that are fictionalized, love books set in other countries...but the main character was not my favorite so I did not love this one. I also love the movie "Out of Africa" which is about characters in the book but not the main character so I pictured that for them. It is hard to describe without giving some of the main points away but the main character made some decisions that I could not go along with and made me not care what happened to her. The writing, etc. was great but was a let down for me.

Halloween and Latest Happenings...

Halloween is up there for Norah on favorite holidays. She gets so excited about it and requests that be the party for her class that I do and she thinks up her costume way in advance. She said she had the best Halloween which is always the good to hear! I thought she was the cutest witch ever! :)

She went to a friend's church festival on the Wednesday before Halloween, we had her class party on the Friday, Jeff and Norah carved the pumpkins Friday night, and then a Halloween party at my mom's house in N. Litchfield on Halloween night. Whew!

This week has started as a big week too...Norah got her report card and she made all As! So proud of her! She also got selected to attend a special field trip to the Career and Technology Expo at a local High School. Again so proud and excited for her! Love our Norah!
