Watching and Reading...

I love going to the movies...well I love watching movies in general but it is fun to go to the movies! I got to see "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" with a friend of mine. It is based on a true story. With Tina Fey in it...you kinda keep waiting for a punchline but it never comes. The characters have funny personalities so there is chuckles there but overall this is a serious movie. Still a good movie but just not what you are expecting.
A friend of mine is starting a new blog to show some things that they cook around her house (when she isn't traveling!)...check it out. Everything she makes is yummy!

Onto one of my other favorite things...reading books! I read "The Swans of Fifth Avenue" and I should have know what I would think about it since I read the author's previous book..."The Aviator's Wife." So I didn't really like "The Aviator's Wife" and I felt the same about this book. I still looked up the characters to see more details about their real lives but you kinda don't feel sorry for them at all in the book. The writing is good but the people she writes about...didn't care about their lives.

Next up..."The Expatriates"...I had read "The Piano Teacher" by the same author years ago and really liked it. I enjoyed this book just as much. It would not be a book I would do a broad recommendation to just anyone but it you like glimpses into real lives of very different women in an international environment...this is for you. I wanted more when it ended so that is a good sign.

Then I switched to some nonfiction and read "13 Hours...Benghazi." It starts off with introducing all the people so there is a lot of detailed information that you have to pay attention to remember who is who. Then once it gets into the actual events...it goes really fast. It is an interesting read and I like the author's way of telling the story and he makes sure to tell you where he got information from so you could find out more details if you wanted. You are reminded that you are only getting the information from the Security team and obviously we have no idea what people in Washington, etc. were really discussing or even knew. I will probably watch the movie next to see how it compares.

I totally switched gears again and read "Edenbrooke" which I had seen on many blogs. It was a light, fun read and I really thought it was cute. If you like the time frame of pride and prejudice...this is your book (but it is written in "our time" language which is why such an easy read.) Enjoyed this one.

Just got three more books from the library...so better get to it!

What we have been up to...

So hard to believe it is March already, time will change this weekend, and before we know it...school will be out!
We were fortunate that Jeff's family friends let us use their beach house...so awesome!

The view is amazing!

Norah and her friend Ellie riding bikes on the bike path with Jeff!

Norah painted BB8 at painting class one week...it turned out so cute!

I got to take a trip to Charlotte for a night with my friend Glenn...so fun! We both agreed that we need to get away more often. I miss Charlotte!

Got to meet some friends out for a drink and apps before heading downtown to see the play "Book of Mormon."

While we were away...Jeff tool Norah to a birthday party and then they went to Church together!

When I came home on Sunday...Jeff did a pizza on the Big Green Egg...this is a before pic...forgot to take one after...it was yummy!

Norah got picked to go paint the local McDonald's with her art teacher and other 3rd graders from school. It was a great time and turned out precious!

Off to pick up Norah from school!
