Thanksgiving 2013

Tuesday was our last day of school so we were getting excited about our trip so headed over to get our Wilcox fix before we left... :)
I took this pic on Tuesday morning when I dropped them off at school...they are growing up so fast!

Wednesday...Norah and I headed to Charlotte and I literally screamed with delight as we got close! We first stopped at Christie's house and the time went by too fast! I loved visiting with Christie (I miss seeing you all the time!) and of course Norah was in heaven playing with Harper and Perry. In the short time we were there...Christie had an art activity for the girls and baked cookies!

Next I hit up a couple of stores and then headed to Shannon's house. I walk in and she hands me a glass of wine...yep...awesome! We sat and chatted and she even made Norah dinner with her boys. It was fabulous! I had so much fun Wednesday...I sure miss both you girls!

We headed over to Jeff's moms house and the next day brought Turkey Day! I must say we are spoiled and did not contribute in anyway for the dinner...just kinda show up...the food and company was great! We had a wonderful time over at my brother/sister-in-laws house catching up and just chatting away...we didn't want to leave! :)
We did hit Starbucks Thanksgiving morning...it was the only place open for some breakfast!

Yep...the famous car shot we always take...this was Turkey Day morning!

Norah and her cousins! Love it!

Turkey Time!

Norah being silly!
I did not do too well on the picture taking as I should have...I always wish I had more action shots of everyone there...but my niece got a pic of the three of us that made the Christmas card! :)

Friday came too soon and we hit Panera for breakfast (you know Jeff was about to have a fit if he didn't get his Panera fix!) before it was time to head back....
It was hard to leave Charlotte but I think we will be back soon! Someone was quite tired on our way back....
Today we have gotten our tree...just have to decorate it now...

And now let the games begin! So many to watch today that I almost don't know what to do with myself...I love it!

Weekend in Review...

If you have driven by my house in the last week...you may have noticed this...

Norah told us that she had built a "wigwam" and was crawling under it and things...how funny! (We both thought it was hilarious that she knew what a wigwam was and equally funny that I actually knew what one was...SC History is paying off for me!) Sadly we had to say goodbye to it and take the branches to the dump... :)

Friday night Jeff got home a little later than usual so we decided to just grab a bite to eat at Habaneros for dinner...

I woke up early Saturday morning and thought there were fireworks going off! It was the opening of Duck Hunting season and you could hear the gun shots like crazy! I also found out that Jeff was planning on hunting  (deer not duck...and no they did not get one...) on Saturday starting at 1 pm so that made my window to see the new "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" movie very short! I so wanted to see it since I saw the last one opening night so I went at 10 am on Saturday morning...I know, I know...not a lot of people going then but so glad I saw it! (Also went into movie with it kinda warm and came out with rain and colder weather...it was strange) The movie was great and I could easily see it again. I love everyone who plays their characters...they are exactly like you think they would be when you read the book. Norah and I ran some errands and went to the Toy Isle...she got to pick something out for her latest school success which was a big hit (remote control car!) Then Norah and I escaped the house for dinner on Saturday by going to the Wilcox house so she could get some energy out with some other kids! Thanks for having us over!
On the movie front...Norah and I plan to see "Frozen" over Thanksgiving break!
And staying on the movie theme...cannot wait to see "American Hustle" and I thought it came out at Thanksgiving but looks like mid-December. I'm loving the colder weather today as it is a perfect back drop for the nothingness that has happened at the Hoppe household! :) Football has been watched...how about the Carolina Panthers today...great game! Now Broncos are about to play...let's go Manning!

Happenings...

Last week Jeff and I celebrated our wedding anniversary (9 years...hard to believe!)...he even got me flowers which has only happened like 4 times ever! We went to eat at Wicked Tuna in Murrells Inlet for dinner and had the best sushi that I have had since living here! Now I want to go back there soon! Norah also lost her 5th tooth!
Thursday I went out with some co-workers and had a great time! Friday Jeff and Keith went on a little overnight hunting trip while Norah and I had a chill night. Norah was checking out the American Girl site, all her "animals" lined the couch, and Finn was curled up at her feet!

Saturday I worked a little, errands (Costco, etc.) and then we all headed over to the Wilcox house to eat the above animals and watch some football. Good times (except that I cannot believe Georgia lost!)

Today we actually made it to the 8 am Church service as we knew it would be another busy day. We celebrated sweet Ellie and her 8th birthday! It was such a fun group of people and kids! We stayed and had oysters and roasted marshmallows in the fire pit. How cool is it that Norah loves to eat duck and oysters...that is my girl! I loved meeting someone new and we ended up knowing a lot of the same people...always a good time!
Glenn...you rock!
Now it is time to gear up for tomorrow and get ready for "Homeland"...I hope there is lots of Quinn and Saul action tonight...especially if Brody is still not in the show! Tomorrow night is Panthers vs. Patriots, Tuesday we are talking about the NYC trip (yeah!), and my mother-in-law is in town this week too....should be a great week!

Georgia vs. App St Game...

Well after leaving Pawleys Island yesterday and driving 4 hours with Norah and the dogs...
She actually slept a little on the way!
We arrived at my mom and Denny's house and look what Denny had gotten me...my "usual" on the left and their new one on the right...yes! The "Dark" is some limited edition they are doing and it is good too! Just what I needed! :)
We got up this morning and headed to Athens for the game. Normally Jeff is all about Georgia but since he went to App. St....he was torn (he asked that we not deck out in Georgia gear since it was his Alma Mater and all...Ha!) It was Norah's first experience at a live football game and she did great! So proud of her! We joked how different it was tailgatin' with a kid then when we used to do it pre-child days! I loved seeing all the college students out and about...of course it was an early game and I remember at Clemson not making it out for tailgatin' before those early games myself! It was a fun day and I think I can see Norah at a lot of football games in her future...especially college time! Here are a lot of pics from our day...including a pic of Aaron Murray and Hairy Dawg on the Dawg Walk!
Jeff brought his App. St. tervis tumbler to the game!

Norah took this pic of us...asking for a kiss!

Now we are back...have changed into comfy clothes and sitting around watching football. Tomorrow we head back to Pawleys (this will make 12+ hours in the car in three days! Whew!) Thanks Denny for taking us to the game!

Books,Pics, and stuff...

Here are my latest reads...
I loved her book "On the Island" so I was anxious to read her new book. I really liked it. It was obviously different then "On the Island" but I still like her writing a lot so recommend but I can see how this may not interest everyone.

I love the movie so much so I wanted to read the book. As I read the book...I just thought of the movie characters the whole time. I find this story so interesting in general.

This was just okay for me...

I really liked this book. I would recommend this one to read over the one above ("Curious...Dog...").
Pics...Friday night we had our middle school dance and then a brief night out with co-workers (no pics...I'm so slack sometimes with the camera!)...then Saturday rolled around and we totally chilled and it was so needed! We literally layed around and watched tons of football...only left the house for food! Ha!
Lunch out...Jeff is totally entertaining my picture taking!

Norah entertaining herself while we grabbed lunch!
Sunday...Jeff and I both worked to be ready for the week...Then Monday came and the week went on...I went out with a friend on Tuesday night (Hey Rachel!) which was fun!
Jeff took Norah to the beach this week which she loved!
Norah is obsessed with Jeff and my phones...so she takes pics all the time now...here is one she wanted to capture of she and I on the couch last night after her bath time! She is so cute!
Tonight I had an impromptu drink with coworkers then when I got home...Jeff and I passed ways as he headed to the South Carolina Waterfowl Association dinner.
Tomorrow is Friday (YEAH!) and we are headed to the Georgia/App St. game this weekend. We have had this planned for awhile as it is the first football game that we are taking Norah to and she is very excited!

For anyone who is in Pawleys Island this weekend...you should definitely plan on going to the Lowcountry Shrimp Boil they are having at our school this Sunday! All are welcome and it will be great fun, food, music and people! :)
