Just call me Mrs. Hoppe...

Well today brought good news! I actually interviewed and was offered a job at the school I am currently student teaching at and accepted it! I will be a 6th grade math teacher in a matter of days! :) (Have to go through HR process)

So my student teaching turns into an "internship" as now I will be considered a lateral entry teacher in the school. I am very excited about this new chapter of my life! I will miss the 8th graders and my teacher that I have been working with this last week as well as my team I have been a part of but it will be a wonderful experience to get my very own classroom. Well I am off to get ready for my new day tomorrow in 6th grade and meeting the students and other teachers!

A new school year...

This last couple of weeks have been super busy at the Hoppe House! Last Monday Norah started her school....I still cannot believe she is in the 4s class. Since I had to be at a class for all math teachers in the district early...Daddy Jeff took Norah to school on her first day and I asked that he take some pics for me. He did a great job!

Norah loves wearing her backpack to school everyday. I had ordered her one that fits everything but it didn't come in until later in the week so she used another one we had...but not everything would fit so it is sticking out of it!

I mean...she is too cute!!

I also have to brag on Norah as her teacher told me the other day when I dropped her off that she is so good with her art...they even use her art as examples to show the other kids what it should look like!

My school experience so far has been great and really busy! The bus situation has been interesting as they are still working out the kinks...we had kids who did not get home until 6:30 pm the first day! Also the air conditioner broke in my room on Friday and I was sweating like crazy but besides those bumps...I have really enjoyed it! The kids and staff have been great to work with!

I also finished the second book in "The Hunger Games Series" and now am reading the 3rd and last book "Mockingjay"

I have really loved this series. It is an easy read but so entertaining...and you want to know what happens next! I think I will be sad when they are finished...but the movie will be out before long. So after reading these books...I think I will have to stay with the trend and next up "Divergent"

I have heard that it is as good or better than "The Hunger Games"...so we'll see. It also is going to be made into a movie and will be a series...

Well I am off to finish laundry, finish some student teaching UNCC work, get baby girl ready for bed, get everything ready for the morning, watch football and maybe read? Whew....that is a lot! (P.S. some Madden football thing is on tv and can I say that I love Deion Sanders!!)

End of beach trip and now a new start....

So Saturday we decided that we need to take some pics...hey let's try to take a pic of all three of us...so here is some attempts of me taking a picture of the three of us...yes...I just held the camera out and tried to do it myself....

Yeah...let's try again....

And again...

.Oops....another try...

Um...hello...what am I doing?! :)

Last one....so next time I think we will just wait until someone can take it of us as my arm was not long enough!

So we stopped by a friend of Jeff's house just down the road for their son's first birthday party...It was humid and Norah's hair did a little curl thing...how cute!

Jeff doing a little bean bag toss....

Norah running to get the bean bags back to daddy....

After the party we had hoped to meet some friends but they didn't get to the beach area till later and Norah was not going to make it very late...she was in bed at 7 again! This no nap thing rocks! :)

Also I finished "The Hunger Games" on Saturday and it was great! It took everything not to stop somewhere on Sunday to pick up book 2. But have no fears...I have it now! And a "GO Panthers" since they won Saturday night! I love that football is back on tv!

Sunday I got up and did a last walk on the beach and it was so awesome...but when is it not!?

There is just something about the beach air...it is heavenly....

These three little birds were cute and reminded me of my family of 3! So when I got back, Jeff took Darcy for a 4 mile run on the beach...they both had a blast!

After cleaning and packing up....we headed back to Charlotte. Today brought the start of my student teaching. My babysitter came this morning and I headed to UNCC for my physical, TB test and the UNCC orientation for graduate student teaching (they actually do the undergraduate separate.) They told us an interesting factoid....she said nationally if you graduate and become a teacher straight from undergrad...then 5 years later...approx. 20% are still teachers. But teachers that are "second career teachers" and go through graduate certificate programs....5 years later...80% are still teachers.

So to haul all my stuff...and there is a lot...I tried a work bag I used to use (it is actually a Kate Spade diaper bag...shhhhhh!) but it did not work at all.

So next up is another work bag I have used in the past...an old Vera Bradley (it looks like a weird shape but it really is a large rectangle and the straps are long enough to go over your shoulders)Hopefully this will work out! It has three compartments and zips so I think it will be a good start. Also as I was carrying said heavy bag...I got to my car after my long day in the parking deck and my car battery was dead! Yes...I think I left the light on inside? So I had to call Campus Security...almost used the "Emergency" pole thing with a light to call but Jeff told me that you are only supposed to use it if you are mugged or raped so I opted to 411 them. He came right out, jumped my car, it was free and fast....and then I was outta there! Of course I then leave said parking deck and they only take cash which I have $1 on me...so I begged her to take a check and she did. Whew! And this is only day 1...

Oh yeah...they gave us all UNCC lanyards to wear our school badges on...it is the green one on the left...not really me. So I took the hook off it and put it on a Lia Sophia necklack I had and boom new lanyard that is a little more stylish!

Well I am off to catch some Monday night football with hubby, do my nightly chores, read a little "Catching Fire" and get ready for day two...meeting my University Supervisor. I also meet Norah's new teacher tomorrow too!

Beach Time...

We arrived late yesterday at the beach. This morning I had to do a few housekeeping items and a couple of school related tasks...but it didn't take too long. Then I went on a walk and met baby girl and Jeff on the beach!

It was overcast today and later rained but it was still perfect...I mean when is a day on the beach not perfect.

Norah was smiling the entire time on the beach...running around, playing in the sand, riding waves and basically just being a total beach girl!

After the rain and a break (nap for me!) we headed back to the beach with the dogs. Norah took her backpack with her...just in case :)

Jeff ended up running Darcy down the beach for awhile to get some energy out of him so Norah and walked Finn. They are so cute! We got back and Norah wanted to do one of her other favorite things while we are at the beach....

Take a bath in Nini's big ole' tub! Then it was dinner time and Norah was ready to crash by 7:15...so book and bed for her. Jeff and are just chilling, watching a little football, surfing the internet and I am even reading a book....

Well tomorrow brings more beach time, a birthday party and hopefully meeting up with some Charlotte friends!

Still Free...

This is a pic of Norah and I last night before heading over to neighbor night! (Goal this weekend: must take more pictures of Norah and me and ones of Jeff, Norah and me) So this morning brought another day of freedom from studying or school work...it is so nice! So I am off to take Norah to art camp (she LOVES art camp!) and then it is cleaning and packing action over here.

Celebrate!!

Well today I took my last final exam!! Wahoo! I feel free! Now I have a few days to relax and enjoy these last days of summer!
But to make this an even more fun post...things I would probably buy to celebrate today if I discovered a money tree in my backyard right now... (in no particular order) :)

I love my dell laptop that I have had for the past 4 years...it is just slightly bulky to carry places so I think a new Mac laptop would be fun to have!

New watch...I mean if you know me...you know black is my signature color!

A new point and shoot camera...mine is 4 years old and I think it might be on its last leg. I have a canon SD1000 so whatever is the equivalent today would work just fine.

I'm thinking the Kindle would be fun to have....

Oh and let's see...a new Chi flat iron (I had one and it broke and I am using a replacement that is not a Chi....and it does not work as well=not as cute hair!) An hour and half massage from Modern Salon and Spa, maybe some Tory Burch shoes and of course a pedicure and manicure would be nice. But alas, no money tree has been found. So to celebrate the year from August 2010 to August 2011...8 classes...24 grad class credits...I will be partaking in a Wednesday night edition of neighbor night and then heading to the beach this weekend!

Maybe I will read an actual paper book that does not relate to school, watch NFL preseason football games, hang out with my precious Norah and fabulous hubby, love on the dogs, and RELAX!!!! Now....I think today calls for a glass of wine!

The Latest and all about organization...

Last Friday Norah had her little end of dance camp "show." Norah actually did it in front of everyone which I was surprised (usually she doesn't like to do things in front of a crowd...I know...I know...so not like Jeff and I) but she DID it! She was super cute doing their little dance moves.

After it was over, we went to put on her shoes and get her bag and I got two pics of her in that famous dance outfit (I had to wash it each night as that is what she wanted to wear everyday!)

Norah said at the end of the week that she liked dance camp and it was a life saver for me as I was able to accomplish a lot of school work. Then Saturday came and I took two exams at the library...they had to be proctored. So I had to pay the library to proctor me for the exams (not only did I have to pay for a service that I would think my tax dollars would cover but because of budget cuts the library is only open 4 days of week too...so sad. Anyway...those two classes are done and I have one more to go. I kinda just worked through the last 3 in a row saving the tests...so I take the final test tomorrow for my last class and I will be done with my classes! Wahoo!! (Technically I had to pay for my student teaching as they consider it a class and there is meetings and work to be done with it...but ya know what I mean!)

Well onto organization...well during my zillion hours on the computer to do these last classes...my breaks would be things like searching for ways to be more organized when I go back to "work" in basically another week. Eek!

So I started seeing a lot about "Home Management Notebooks" and thought they really look interesting and you can really alter it to fit your life. Here are some links to some ideas...

Ideas 2 (this one has several other links at the bottom of the post...)

Hope to use some of the ideas and see how it goes... I think being a mom, wife, "working", school and having our house on the market will cause me to have to be EXTRA on the ball!

And a little random note..how cute are these lunch boxes!? You can see info on them here and I hear that you can get them at Alphabet Soup here in Charlotte. Lilly is so cute!

Well I am off to study for my last exam! After tomorrow...I'm free!!! But just until next Monday when everything gets cranked back up! :)

Meal Planning...

(Two posts in one day...who am I?) :)

Just wanted to put this link up on the blog...so I'll remember where it is! I found this through another blog (this one) about a link up to a post where people can submit easy recipes. Basically with the economy, groceries are super expensive, leftovers are not loved in the Hoppe House, and will be a "working" mom again in a couple of weeks...I've been trying to get ready for having some meals prepped ahead of time. I do make a meal plan each week already (use this that my friend Christie gave me...it is awesome!) so I know what we are going to eat and what we need from the store. Also since I shop for groceries at several places (Super Target, Trader Joes, Costco/Sams and Harris Teeter) I have to know what I need to get from where to make the trips efficient. Anyway...here is the link to the blog post where there are several recipes linked and I think she might be doing this every month?

And to my friends....you know that I love a good recipe so you can always e-mail me one if you have one...especially if it freezes well and is easy for a weeknight! I would love to have a few things in the freezer for when school starts for less stress cooking!

Dance and Doctors...

Yesterday Norah had her first day of dance camp. They said she had some rough spots and cried because she missed me...poor thing! But they she got in the swing of things. She told me that she liked the music the best and I think she loved carrying her own back-pack in with her lunch.

How freakin' cute is that dance outfit! :)

Yesterday we also went to the doctor for Norah's 4 year old appointment. Everything was great and she got some vaccinations (Boo!) So since Norah was born...she has been off the charts (over 100%) with both height and weight....but for the first time....she got on the chart! She was 49 pounds which is on the chart at the 95 percentile but she is still off the charts (around 110%) for height at 44.25 inches in height. Yes...she is going to be a tall one! :)

Norah brought a book which she "read" to me during our wait. I cannot believe she is 4 and I'm starting to not want her to grow up anymore! Well today brings dance again and the dogs finally getting haircuts!
