February Books and other stuff...

I read three full books in February...
This was a re-read....I love Harry Potter! I know that there will be a third re-reading of these in the future!!
This was for our book club and I loved it! Get it and read it! Once I got into the book...I could not put it down.
Kinda random but it was a quick read and pretty good.
These are books that I read a little each day. I really like each of them a lot except the "Here and Now" is not really my style...the writing is all over the place and rushed but it is for the Women's bible study I go to so we should be finished with it shortly...and I'm excited to see what we start next.
Norah is starting to read on her own (we still help her with bigger words) but I love that she is reading!
I know I will be reading "Infidel" by Ayaan Hirsi Ali next for the Adult Forum/Sunday School at Church but haven't decided what else is next. Plus our book club meets next week so that will be fun to see what is picked for March. Well it has been another busy week! Tomorrow is March (so hard to believe!) and we are going after school to make treats with the youth for Sunday's host table at Church and Saturday...Jeff and I will be going to our school's BASH which should be a great time! (Really excited about a night out with adults and no kids! Thanks mom for watching Norah!!) I'm hoping to squeeze in a little down time this weekend but we'll see... :)
I will leave you with a cute pic of Norah and Darcy I took this past Sunday. Love that precious child!!!

The Oscars and a Fish...

I must say we actually watched bits and pieces of the Oscars last night. We were not big fans of the host stuff this year. The best parts by far were when Jennifer Hudson sang and Adele sang...both were super awesome! My favorite dresses of the night were both worn by Jennifer Hudson too.

Love both of them! I thought everyone's make up looked pretty good but the hair of some were a hot mess. Definitely need to see a lot of the movies that were up for awards...so glad that they are all coming on DVD soon!

We also enjoyed some yummy flounder for dinner last night that Jeff caught this weekend...the flounder weighed 5 pounds!! Now that is a fish...

Whew....what a week!

This week was busy in a lot of ways plus Jeff was out of town...so honestly I can barely remember what all happened! I know there was work, school, Church time, reading, watching of "Downton Abbey" season finale, a good friend got engaged (Congrats Anna!), meetings, running errands, cleaning and the list goes on. So let's just skip to the things I can remember!

"Downton Abbey"...I cannot believe it is over for the year...I'm so sad. I knew something would happen to Matthew as I had heard he had not signed his contract for the next season but why something so tragic?! Boo! Now there isn't much TV left for me to watch except "Big Bang" until football reappears in the Fall...
This weekend a friend of mine (Hey Julie!) had planned to come down with some friend for a girls weekend and I was so looking forward to seeing her and getting to do something...poor thing got sick and their trip canceled...another Boo! Come back Julie! :)

Friday was "dress like a book character" at school and I asked Norah what she wanted to dress as...maybe Pinkalicious, etc. She said "I want to me Hermione"...so Hermione she was! And cute too!

So Friday night we did a last minute neighbor night for the kiddos and pizza and oysters were eaten. Always a great time! Saturday came and Norah was asked for a play date. She went over there and she said they had a great time! They ended up going to "Harry the Potter" (I know...how awesome!) and painted pottery. Cannot wait to see what she did as it has to be fired...she is keeping it a secret! Thanks Austin and Mrs. Marsha for having Norah over! She was so worn out from the play date (a good sign I think!) that she fell asleep in the car on the way home. When we got home...we put her on the couch and the dogs joined her for a nap. Now that is precious!
Well today brings Church and getting ready for the new week. Hard to believe this week is the end of February. Time is flying!

First Lost Tooth and lots of Germs....

Tuesday night we went to Pancake dinner at our Church and then came home, Norah took a bath, got ready for bed and boom...Norah lost her first tooth!! It had been loose for a week or so but it still took us all my surprise! She was ecstatic! She jumped up and down and could not stop smiling!
Her new tooth was already growing in too! The tooth fairy came and Norah is still in awe that it is missing! And now...one of her top front teeth is loose! Oh my...she is growing up and I am not ready! :)
Well I was feeling yuck all week and Thursday was feeling better but by Thursday night was yuck again. However, Friday morning (which thankfully we were out of school) Norah got a fever and poor child...still has it today! It makes me so sad when she feels bad. I am feeling pretty good now so that is a positive. I do hope Norah's fever breaks today at some point so she can get back to being herself.

Oh and Valentine's Day came and it was good despite all the germs around here. Norah had fun getting lots of Valentines at school and having a Valentine's party. We gave her new book ("Emeraldlicious" for you Pinkalicious fans out there!) and an art and craft to do (she has already done it!) Jeff and I finally watched "Skyfall"...I actually only got to watch some it on Valentine's night as that is when the germs hit me but watched the rest the next day. Of course I liked it! Well I am off to take care of my sick baby...pray that she feels better soon!

Monday Musings...

I felt awful today...got some kind of germs...came home and hit the bed. Hoping it is just a fluke and will feel better tomorrow. Last night I was in bed early too so I recorded Downton Abbey and watched bits and pieces of the Grammy Awards. I know I listen to Country Music most of the time so some bands I have never heard of (typical)...but after the performance with Zac Brown, Elton John and others...I had to look up the band...Alabama Shakes! I really like them! Have they been out long? Gonna download some  of their music...that girl can sing!
Well I "like" Pawleys Island Bakery on Facebook and what comes across the Newsfeed but a Red Velvet Turtle Cheesecake...no lie and it is heart shaped! Ummm...that sounds awesome! Maybe that will have to be part of the Valentine's Day this year!
Well as much as I really want to watch the two hour Downton from last night...I think it is back to bed for me. Boo!
And I have to leave you with the cutest picture of Jeff and Norah from the dance Saturday night that someone took and posted to Facebook...they are having so much fun! Love it! Talk about Daddy's little girl... :)

Whew...what a week!

This past week was super busy and event filled! We had my aunt and uncle in town and Jeff's mom was in town too. I went to a women's bible study group and loads to do at school. Really it boiled down to needing about another 6 hours in the day to get everything done. Oh well....some weeks are just like that I guess. I do feel that we didn't get to spend lots of time with our out of town families since we had a lot going on but hopefully they will be back soon! So last night we all crashed early from pure exhaustion! Today we went with the Wilcox family and most of the Keyser family (we missed ya Sally and Rowan!) to enjoy the outdoors in DeBordieu at the Wilcox's family home. It was a beautiful day...just amazing weather and of course...great company!

Then we got back home and Norah and Jeff got ready for the Father/Daughter dance at Georgetown Presbyterian Church that Keith and Ellie invited them to go. I stayed home and ran errands and got some cleaning done...basically regrouped from the week. Then they got home and they had so much fun! Jeff said Norah danced all night...nonstop! She was still pumped up when she got home! She will sleep good tonight! :)

Well off to finish a couple of things and then read my book! Tomorrow looks like another busy day too!

Beginning of February...

It is hard to believe that it is already February! Last Thursday was our first book club gathering and I believe it was a success! I loved all the ladies that came and think we had a great time. Of course I forgot to take any pics while everyone was here but we did pick our next book which is "The Art of Hearing Heartbeats" by Jan-Philipp Sendker.
Also look at these beautiful tulips that Jan brought to the book club for me in honor of my birthday! They are beautiful!
Well Friday Jeff took Norah to family swim night at the gym and Saturday was a day of a lot of little things. Norah and I ran errands, Jeff worked and then fished and then I was in the kitchen making lots of food...some for Church today, some for Super Bowl gathering and some for the week. I did watch a fantastic movie yesterday that I originally wanted to see if the theatre but never did (there seems to be a theme of that for me these days!) "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen"...I really LOVED it! It also makes me want to add Ewan McGregor to my "celebrity boyfriend" list...and let's face it...most of the actors in the movie have a British accent so I knew I was going to love it as I do seem to love all that is British!
Today we headed to Sunday school and Church which as always is great. To go off on a slight tangent...something we talked about today in Sunday school really kinda hit me...Jeff and I discussed on the way home. In essence...you go to Church on Sunday and when you leave...you are refreshed and ready for the week. You are ready to share and spread the word, be positive and go the right path. Then you enter the "real" world where others may not share your views and then you get bogged down with the daily ins and outs of life and you can't seem to keep that feeling that you had on Sunday. Jeff and I talked how that is the ticket...to make a conscience effort to live each day with the same "umph" that we have on Sunday. I could go on and in more detail but I wanted to make note so I would remember our discussion.

Ok...back on track....we had the annual meeting and a potluck lunch after the service today. I have to mention that Norah offered to help and take people's plates to the kitchen after the lunch without being asked to do so...so proud of her!! She is such a good kid!
Norah's hair is now long enough to make one big ponytail!

Norah actually took this picture of Jeff and me!

I snapped this at Church while Norah was helping clean up...all on her own!
Well now I have to get some things ready for tomorrow and just to rest a minute before we head over to  some Super Bowl festivities. I do not want to jinx myself but my throat is kinda bothering me...I so cannot get sick!!
