Saturday Fun and a couple of Randoms...

Saturday morning started off with Norah losing one of her front teeth!
Then we took Norah and Ellie to breakfast to start the day. We loved having Ellie sleepover...they had a lot of fun and it was a perfect end to Norah's birthday! Since Norah was staying at Nini and Pops house Saturday night...she wrote a letter to the tooth fairy to leave at our house so the Tooth Fairy would know where to find her! (I folded it over for privacy but she actually wrote the address for the tooth fairy too!) So cute!
Jeff and I headed out Saturday night for a birthday party for an amazing person who we have met since moving to Pawleys and it was a blast! They had a great band from Atlanta and we shuffled our feet danced! Then we met some friends out afterwards too. Here is how we started the night... (Self car portrait is a must for us...seat belts and all!)
Now I have no pictures for the end of the night because I was a HOT MESS! Ha! The humidity killed the hair and we glistened sweated like crazy! My dress and feet were filthy too! But what a fun night!

Now the Randoms...
There is nothing on the TV in the summer so I've watched some random stuff...I started watching "Pawn Stars" on the History Channel and love it! It is actually pretty interesting and funny too.
I finally watched the movie "Pitch Perfect" which made me laugh out loud. Now I wonder if I should own this shirt? Seriously..."Fat Amy" is hilarious!

Well it is raining here and we are going to have a much needed lazy day! Gearing ourselves up for a week of fun for the 4th of July!

The week that ended with...Norah's 6th Birthday!

This week has been a busy one...but lately...which week hasn't?! :) My sweet girl turned 6 years old and I cannot believe it! She has been in Garden Camp all week and has had the best time with Mrs. Flo and Mr. Phil! Today was the big birthday! I really debated about what to do to celebrate Norah's birthday but in the end decided to do something more low key since she has had a big "party" every birthday in the past. You can check out Norah throughout her birthdays HERE and HERE.

Today started with Norah getting up and opening her presents from Mommy and Daddy! Loved to see her expressions and she was very happy!

Next up was a trip to Pawleys Island Bakery to pick up her cupcakes to celebrate her birthday at Garden Camp! (And yes, they tasted as good as they looked! Amazing!)

Next up was celebrating at Garden Camp! Thanks Mrs. Flo and Mr. Phil for incorporating it into the camp day! She loved the attention!

Then came beach time in the afternoon with our good friends and family. We even grilled hot dogs on the beach!

Then a quick trip to Nini and Pop's house for cake and presents!!

Now she and Ellie are having a sleepover (Norah's first at our house!) after they played dressing up with their dolls and stuff...they have hit the bed. (Seriously Ellie and Norah are the cutest!) Whew! What a week and day but so worth to see her so happy! Thanks everyone who called Norah today, sent her birthday cards, gave her presents and everything else...it meant the world to her! Now I'm going to crash...  :)

The Friday Five

1. I finished reading "Fall of Giants" which I thought was great and of course after 900+ pages...I have to know what happens next. So I took a trip to the local library and checked out the next one in the series. Excited!
2. Norah has been in VBS at St. Peter's this week and has LOVED it! She has been so excited to go every day and they gave you this CD of songs....which Norah knows all the words and hand movements...and we play it in the car nonstop! She also got a bible memory verse necklace which she is wearing right now! What a great time!
3. Last night we went to the Island Festival which is where Norah got her face painted like a Tiger last year. We had a blast! My Aunt Susan gave us one ticket and Norah was ecstatic to go again. The weather was great! This year she went for a butterfly for her face paint and she went from one "jumpy" to another all night!  We also had a great time meeting some new folks and talking to our friends....it is hard to believe that this kinda marked a year of living here for Norah and me. (Wow!)

4. The pictures that St. Christopher posted for our Session of Buddy Camp were posted and there was a shot of Norah and I in it! You can check out all the pictures HERE (Session 2 pics)

5. Today marks one week until Norah turns 6 years old! I cannot believe it!
Well I am so happy it is Friday! I hope we have a somewhat calm weekend to balance our busy week! Now off to the pool!

Norah's Haircut...

Norah wanted to grow out her hair when she started kindergarten this past year...so she let it grow out all year with only me giving her some "trims." Then yesterday Norah said she was ready to cut it off again like she used to have it. I think she realized that as much as she likes to be in the water...the long hair kinda got in her way. So we went to get a haircut..

Here is the before...
And After...
She loves it! (And I do too!)

Happy Father's Day 2013

Jeff is the best daddy ever! I looked back at the blog (I love that it is my scrapbook of family pics!) and check out these cute pics of Jeff and Norah that I posted on Father's Day 3 years ago. It is amazing how much she has grown! Yesterday we headed out with other families to the Point at Litchfield...you access it by taking a boat from South Pawleys over to it. Everyone had a blast! We spent about 6 or so hours out there with chairs, food and drink! Glenn rented a paddle board and it was a huge hit. Here are some pics of Jeff and Norah on it!

How lucky are we that we get to spend our Saturday with great friends at a place like Pawleys Island! It is pretty amazing and I hope we do not ever take it for granted. Well today we are going to try to spoil Jeff and gear up for another week.

Buddy Camp 2013 and a busy week...

It has been a busy week...I went back to work this week, friends have been in from Charlotte (Hey Julie, Christie and Cara!!), family in town, meeting at Church and of course, just normal day-to-day stuff too! There was a lot of trips to the beach and pool with friends and family in there which was a lot of fun. Norah has been at Art Camp all week with Mrs. Hays and she came home with some awesome art work. Here are a couple shots of it...(I am so in love with the owl! It is hard to tell but it is larger and I'm totally framing it!) Each one is using different materials whether watercolor, acrylic paint, and more!

So I still have not documented our big Buddy Camp experience which was amazing...so here it goes.
Last Friday morning we were up early and as we went to leave...my car battery was dead! So after we got it jumped and hoped for the best...then we headed out to St. Christopher's Camp in Seabrook Island. We even saw a rainbow in the sky on our way. We arrived a little late but it was okay...we jumped right in! The weather cleared up as the day went on and ended up being perfect for our stay.

Buddy Camp was awesome! Norah and I had the best time! We did not know anyone going in but made friends fast and it was a busy two days. The experience brought so many good memories back as I had done there for three summers 25+ years ago (I actually got teary eyed leaving.) The cabins were exactly the same (except now they have air conditioner!) and the activities were the same in a lot of ways. The only activity that I was hoping to do that we were not able to due was sailing...our group was scheduled to do it Friday morning and the weather was still not good for it but hopefully we will get to do it again another time soon! It was funny because I looked forward to singing some of the same songs we sang but they didn't sing any of them! I asked one of the staff members and she had not heard of the songs ("Rise and Shine", "One Tin Soldier" and "Apples and Bananas") that we used to sing....I think that just proved that I was a "little" older!?

I loved the staff and they are such good role models for all the kids. A lot of the staff were from Clemson so that was fun to talk to them about too hearing how it has changed and stayed the same. I cannot say enough positive things about Buddy Camp and I really hope we can do it next year too! (More pics should be posted on St. Christopher's site this week for Buddy Camp-Session 2 HERE)

And here are some pics I took...(I never had my camera when we were doing water activities since they are all in the ocean...the cabins are directly on the beach which is fabulous!)

Well I am thinking next week will be slightly calmer...right?! Off to enjoy our Saturday!

What a wonderful week...

This week has been great...I just want it to last forever! Saturday night was great to see my friend Anna in Charleston. She gets married this month and I am very happy for her. (I think I will get some pics from the night soon...so I can always post later...I didn't take any pics...boo!) Sunday we had friend time with the Keyser and Wilcox family which was a good time. Then the week brought beach time, we joined our neighborhood pool so we visited there, got a library card (and checked out books!) and in general...Norah and I just did everything together! I love being with her and it was been such a relaxing, amazing week.

I also have gotten to read for fun and finished "Tell the Wolves I'm Home" by Carol Rifka Brunt and I liked it. It was different then I expected but thought it was a great story. I recommend it.

I also picked back up "Fall of Giants" by Ken Follett that I started in April but it had to go to the side for awhile. It is really good and I find that I want to know what happens and I read it every free minute! I hope to have it finished soon!

Tonight is actually Book Club so I cannot wait to see what book is chosen next to read too. I'm also getting ready for Norah and I to leave for Buddy Camp (early in the morning) at St. Christopher. Even though there is a tropical storm (go away!!!) and we will be on the beach at camp...they e-mailed to tell is that Buddy Camp is still on! I wish we would have good weather since I loved playing in the ocean, sailing, etc. while I was there as a kid and we are only there such as short time...but I'm sure we will still have fun!

This week Jeff and I even watched some movies from RedBox..."Jack Reacher" and "Avengers"...we are a little late to the game but they were both good. Jeff really liked "Jack Reacher" and I told him that they are trying to make a sequel so he would love that...(I also mentioned that these are based on books...but he is not a reader so will have to wait for the movies!)

Here are some pics from today as we have stayed inside for most of the day...(skyfall.com is a great site for kids!)
We did try to sneak out for awhile and head to my mom's house to ride bikes but we didn't get to ride for too long because the rain came back. Love this pic of Norah laughing!
This has been such a needed break and great week...I wish it did not have to end! It is going to be hard to go to work on Monday...now I know how important those 3 months of June, July and August are to have that break and I want them! :)
