A Gift and Halloween 2013...

So Monday I returned to school and a student had brought me a gift back from his trip to Universal studios and the world of "Harry Potter..."
He told me it was made of "dragon skin" and it is a journal...so sweet! I love it! It made my day! :)

Then Halloween happened. It was cute to see the students dress up but it was also awesome to see the other teachers dress up...we had a selection! I would post a pic of one of the teachers in a super hero costume but since they may not know this blog exists...I better not....but the kids went crazy for it! It was fabulous to see! I also got a pic of a teacher from the ole' Mountaineer team (The Hollow!) in Snow White gear with her dwarfs...yeah! It was so great! I was pretty boring as I was a last minute thought...and this is the only pic I have and it is a bit blurry...because Norah took one of me this morning because she said I was dressed as a "chef..."
Really I was a "fork in the road".... :)

I also headed to Norah's Halloween party at school today...
She had fun and there was a lot of sugar consumed! Then after Jeff and I finished work...Jeff carved the many pumpkins we had (I had two left over from my class)...

Yeah...sorry about all the garage pics! I think this is the first year there is not a pic of all three of us...you can see previous Halloween pics HERE (Halloween last year) and HERE (the end of the post has the Halloweens of the past links.) Well then we decided since I went to school party...Jeff would do trick-or-treating! So he and Norah headed to Pawleys Retreat to my cousin's house (Hey Thomas and Melissa!) and they had a great time and got lots of candy! They also saw a lot of people they knew which was fun!
So now tomorrow brings our Middle School Fall Festival/Dance that I will be a chaperon for...should be fun! And then the weekend! :)

Weekend...

This weekend Jeff and I headed to Savannah for my cousin's wedding. It was an interesting weekend and we got back earlier today...so nice to be home! Here are the highlights of the good stuff! (Be ready for picture overload...but if you make it to the end...I'm going to throw in some cute pics of Norah's weekend too!)
We made it to Savannah! We stayed at the Hilton DeSoto in the Historic District in Savannah.

Rehearsal Dinner Time....

Cousins!

Me with Cousin Erica!

Uncle Bill, Aunt Susan (Hankie) and Cousin Erica
Saturday morning on the River...we ate the best breakfast at Huey's...yum!

Later in the day on Saturday...Jeff thought he might drink a beer (hasn't had one in over two years)...he had a "taster" at Mellow Mushroom but opted not to order one in the end!

Wedding Time! Does that tie look familiar? It is from our wedding!

This is my cousin's (Thomas) wife, Melissa...how cute and they in Pawleys Island now too!

Mother of the Bride...Mary!

With Cousin Kelley...we had a lot of fun in the summers in Georgetown when we were little!

Kelley, Melissa and cousin Thomas (Kelley's brother!)

Cousins Bill and Suzy

The Bride! Cousin Margaret
So as you can see...when in doubt...it is a cousin in a pic! :) Lucky for us the Wilcox family had Norah all weekend so we wouldn't have to worry about her while we were gone! We missed her so much! But Norah had a great time with them!

Well now back to reality!

Life Lately...

Life is the same and different at the same time. Busy as usual (I know...we lead an exciting life!) Here are some pics...First up...someone I work with asked Norah what she was going to be for Halloween and she said "an Indian."...Hmmmmm....this is her costume.....
I'm going to let you decide if that is an "Indian" costume or not!?

We headed out to eat tonight to have some family time (in reality...it also rocked because I so didn't want to cook or clean and convinced Jeff to go out!)...We headed to what we call "The Blue Crab" and got our usual of fish tacos...Norah had fun playing with some kids there and enjoyed some tic-tac-toe games with Daddy!

And something I saw on Facebook this week...(like I needed another reason to like Luke Bryan)...he is a Georgia fan!
I guess I will finish my last glass of wine tonight and get ready to gear up for parent conferences tomorrow! I actually had Norah's teacher/parent conference today with her teacher and it went great! Cannot believe she can read, write, do math problems, etc...she is growing up so fast! She has been writing 5 pages plus A DAY in her journal so her teacher thinks she should be an author...how fun! She is very excited about her school's fall festival tomorrow and then Halloween next week...I see lots of candy ahead... :)

Lots of Fun Planned....

Well as I take a break from looking at report cards to be printed...I have to tell ya about the fun planned! So tonight I booked a flight to NYC! Yeah! So excited that I am taking a trip in December with some friends! Callaway...I'll be talking to ya soon about it!!
This weekend is the Wooden boat show in Georgetown and since Jeff sponsored this year too...it should be fun. We have been lucky enough to always go to the Sponsor tent which is a great time! And of course Clemson plays Florida State Saturday night which I cannot wait to watch!

Then next weekend we are headed to Savannah for my cousin's wedding...which is going to be a blast! She keeps a WEBSITE and I love reading all about it...and she has The Embers playing at her wedding reception which will be amazing! We also will get to hang out with family that we have not seen in awhile...weddings are great to bring everyone together! Excited about everything as I hope to break out of the "funk" I have been in lately. Well back to the grind and who knows what might happen this Thursday and Friday too!

Lately...

So things change...Thursday night ended up being a couple drinks with some friends...Elizabeth and Glenn...thanks for giving me some sanity this week!

With a little change of plans...Norah, the dogs and I arrived in Graniteville Friday night. Norah did not sleep the whole way down (4+ hours!) but we sang a lot of songs and talked about some random things...so we had fun! :)
Here is the pic of leaving the driveway...madness....as you can see....
Yeah...so we arrive and my mom is not doing so great (hip replacement was on Monday)...she had a mild fever, etc. We get through the night. Next day my step-dad goes to the Georgia game (hate that they lost...so wanted them to win!!! Norah should have worn her Georgia gear at the beginning of the day...lesson learned!)...then Clemson came on and they were losing (What?!) so went to plan B and made Norah take her bath and put on her Clemson shirt....miraculous Clemson starts to win....all because of the shirt....maybe....
Actually the true weekend has surrounded my mom getting better...which she has done such an improvement! The physical therapist came today and they did lots of exercises and she was told not to use the walker anymore...just to use her cane...so hopefully she is on a speedy path to recovery! I told her she would be back to the beach in 6 weeks easy!

In the meantime....Norah and I have enjoyed some one on one time...
(Yes, I know the pic is kinda scary with no make-up and my "real" hair!..sorry it is rare to have a pic of us!) and the dogs....well they have had an absolute blast running around the yard!!
Oh and I must mention not only did Clemson win (YEAH!!!! Of course, I give a lot of credit to the shirt change!)....but then Keselowski won the Charlotte race!!! Wahoo! Go Ben! We saw you on the TV....(Jeff says you need some sun on your noggin'! Ha!)

And speaking of Jeff...Happy 46th Birthday!!! I know you have enjoyed your weekend  (even if the fish were not biting as planned)...see you tomorrow!! :)

The Latest...

Been busy as usual (when are we not these days!)...today my mom had her hip replaced. So thankful everything went okay and hope that this is the road to full recovery for her! I so wish I was there with her but I think she will do well to have lots of rest before we visit. She hopes to be home from the hospital later this week.

Since my phone is smashed...I definitely have not been good about the ole' picture taking. And it is sometimes not working which is so not good for me. I did order a new iPhone 5s but it is not scheduled to ship until Oct. 21! What?! (I got the silver one...)
Friday we had a fun lunch at our school with all the Middle and Upper Students. It was a great time! So when I got home it was so nice that Norah was invited to go watch the local high school parade which she brought home tons of candy...and had a lot of fun! (Thanks Glenn!)
Saturday we watched football with some friends...it was such a fun time! Norah picked out her outfit and it looked like something I would wear...we called her mini me (it also was a reminder how fast she is growing up...EEK!)
We were off and loved this pic where Norah totally photo bombed the picture! So cute!
And here is Jeff's attempt to take a pic of Norah and me...since barely any exist!
And since this coming weekend Jeff turns the BIG 4-6...
He will be spending the weekend with the boys which I know he is super pumped about! I found out that the band I heard a few weeks back is playing in Murrells Inlet on Saturday so I think I will get to see them as I will be hubby and child free that night! Wahoo!

On random notes....we have started watching "Homeland" again and even though Brody is not in the first 2 episodes...Saul is making it up for me! This show is crazy!
Also please tell me you watched "The Big Bang Theory" last week regarding the scavenger hunt...I seriously laughed out loud...and the Neil Diamond singing in the car...reminds me of MB and I in ATL and Peter Cetera...I'm just saying...

Also there are some great movies coming out and two that I want to see happen to be both based on true stories..."Rush" and "Captain Phillips"...

I also read a cute book lately. The 6th graders at my school are reading from the list of books nominated for SC Junior Book Award 2014 so I decided to read one too! I read "The Apothecary" by Maile Meloy. Easy read and had a very different ending then I would have thought it would have...
Also get it while it lasts...Tory Burch Friends and Family discount of 25% off...I sure would love THESE!
or THIS!

Too bad it is not my birthday! :)
