Spring Break 2018-New York City

Spring Break this year was the beginning of April and we headed as a family to NYC for half the week. When Norah first got out of school we went directly to the movies and saw "Ready Player One." I had read the book but Norah went in without reading the book. It was a great movie and Norah LOVED it!! She said it was one of her favorites. I told her that the book was different too so we immediately walked to the bookstore and bought the book for her to read. She really enjoyed reading the book too.

Easter came and Norah got a basket full of goodies and tickets to the Volvo Open.

We headed to the Volvo Open tennis tournament in Daniel Island and the sun was bright! It was a fun day!

Then finally the day came to head to NYC. This was Norah's first plane ride too!

We went to Joe's pizza in Times Square (1435 Broadway) and it was so good!! We shared a piece as a snack when we got to town.

Norah had never been to NYC and it had been almost 30 years since Jeff went so we played tourist and walked around Times Square area. Norah thought it was so cool!

Norah loved the Hershey and M&M store! She did get a mix bag of M&Ms and picked up Nini some "I love NY" M&Ms as a souvenir.

It was fun to explore and just walk around. We walked 20,000+ steps each day!

We had reservations at Keens Steakhouse the first night and it was the BEST! We agreed it was one of the best meals we have ever had and beat every steakhouse we have ever been too. We cannot wait to go back and eat there again!!

Day 2 we headed to the Statute of Liberty! I booked ahead (a must if you plan on visiting as it cut down on the wait significantly!)

Norah found this Merry-go-round type ride which she tried out. It was big fish you sat in and they moved.

We also saw the 9/11 memorial which was very "wow" and unbelievable.

After this walk fest...Jeff was determined to go to Lombardi's Pizza (we did not think it was that good and I would not recommend for pizza...go to Joe's instead) so we walked so far to get there but Norah was starving so we got her Shake Shack on the way which she said was awesome!!

That night we went to Kinky Boots which I saw the last time I was in NYC. I love it and hoped they would love it too...they did! The first time I saw it...Todrick Hall was in it and this time Wayne Brady and David Cook were in it!! It is such a fun show!

We walked home as were staying in Midtown (stayed here last time and it is a great location for seeing shows) and got a late dinner at MEW which was really good and I would recommend.

Next day we went back out and walked around...

I was so impressed with St. Patrick's...it was amazing!!! I want to go on a tour of Churches in Europe one day as I love seeing the ornate Churches! Beautiful!

We walked through Central Park and down 5th Avenue...we had to switch up some things this day as it was rainy in the morning for a little bit. So I had to go to Top of the Rock (I had bought the tickets ahead of time) and exchange our tickets for a different time later in the day. So I had to cancel our reservations for Tea at the Plaza for lunch (gonna go back to do this another time)  as the times clashed now with our new tickets. So we ate in the food court below the Plaza instead which was fun and good (and I felt like it was a hidden treasure!) Would recommend it as there are a lot of choices!

A trip to Top of the Rock...

Then we had dinner before our next show at the same Italian place I ate on my previous trip Trattoria Dell'Arte and it was delicious as it was before.

And our last show was Aladdin which was great!

Then sadly the next day we headed home already talking about when we should go back! We would love to do it again and stay in the Brooklyn area for another experience too.
